The truth is, even when dreads can be used for orbital strikes (ie soon ie never) they will destroy all of the installed infrastructure. Players will quickly determine that the most efficient way to support a ground attack is with fighters launched from supercaps.

"Low Earth Orbit" starts from ~160km and you get a relatively long-term stable orbit at ~200km. The ISS orbits between ~280 and ~460 km.
So if those were rails... maybe

Those were rails.
Unless I'm mistaken, they seemed to use the current rails model in the video, despite creating new models for turrets. What's up with that?

Moros blasters are sort of orbs with truncated cone-things protruding from the center. In semi-related news, capital rails sound p badass as opposed to the blasters that just kind of wheeze. Subcapital hybrids sound weak-ass especially compared to the GONKGONKGONK! of lasers or the DAKADAKADAKA! of autocannons or the FWOOMP! of artillery.
Hey CCP, fix hybrids.
And dreadnaughts.

I seen this video already, but it looked like a station(ish) ship was orbitting the planet that fired the strike. How are people making the connection dread <-> orbital strike or am I missing a peice of the puzzle ? :)

CCP are obviously under the employ of the fascist and terrorist Caldari regime.
The video shows a Moros class dread, supported by other Gallente Federation ships, breaking an agreement and firing on its own men as well as the objective
And along comes the Caldari to "punish" these "bad guys". Its a typical propaganda move made make a terrorist regime look good in the eyes of its people and those idiots in other empire dumb enough to be easily brainwashed.
The honourable Gallente Federation would never undertake such a course of action.

There is ONE thing people have missed from this video, Not only was the Moros shooting at the planet. BUT that is not what you saw from the ground up, You sir saw a Ion type cannon. We will see new Space->Planet super weapons(It only makes sense); Before anyone argues with me watch the video again. I didn't see the Moros shooting 1 large gun but 2 burst from each turret.
