Having an easy time with level 2 missions in my Hurricane, I started some level 3s. Although I am finishing them, it takes a long time. Am I correct to assume T2 weaponry is recommended?
Also I have just 1.7 mill SP.

Edited by: IoWalker on 28/03/2011 02:54:00 No it's not necessary. Just train up enough to fit 'Scout' medium autocannons or artillery. Ofc when you do finally skill up for T2's, fit them. But L3s won't hurt with the Scouts.
Oh, the 1.7M SP might hurt you in several areas on some of these missions. Probably in lack of good drone skills, probably some pretty basic Electronic/Engineering/Mechanic/Navigation skills have gaps.

Thanks. DPS is what I need. They don't hurt me badly but whacking away at a 30k Cruiser with my weapons makes a very small dent. I didn't realize the 'Scout" models were better. Thanks!

You would need drone skills right now more than anything else. Even go so far as to be fielding T2 light drones. Several L3 missions, as well as storyline missions, are going to have tackling frigates that are going to show up, web you down to nothing, and suddenly your Hurricane will probably blow up. Believe me it happens with no drones, or barely skilled T1 drones.
Fitting artillery can possibly save your butt in these situations, since often these tackling frigates will be sitting 7-9k m away from you and trying to taking them out with medium autocannons, while your tank is breaking, will end up with your explosion.

Level 4 missions don't need T2 turrets, let alone l3

Well I was able to fold in one 650mm scout artillery (all I could afford they are expensive) and it already made a big difference! Will ad more as I can so thanks again, my training continues.

Whoops this is Flakey my alt got put in...

you're flying a hurricane and struggling with L3's ?
Fit 720's and train your gunnery skills.

Wait wait wait, let me get this straight.
You want him to swap out his autocannons (With good tracking!) that are in perfect falloff range... for artillery? Against elite frigates. That are already within range of you.

lvl 4 missions dont require t2 guns either. And remember that you can use alot of faction modules as a t2 alternative, often theyre even better.

Isk is not a crutch for your lack of skills (both in skillpoints and experience).

Isk can compensate quite some things though.

^^
Get meta 3 or 4 guns and train up your gunnery support skills, and get your drone skills up to (I would recommend having T2 light and medium before moving into a BS)
I personally use a railgun megathron for L4s and even with only the meta 4 guns it has zero issues killing the rats. T2 tank + reasonable gunnery/drone support skills will make any L3 trivial in the most BCs (trying to mission in a cyclone or prophecy would probably still suck, but your typical drake, myrm, cane, harbi should do L3s easily).
T2 gun grind is something to do once your in a BS and have decided on a race to fly in the medium to long term (the reason why im holding off on it until I cross train to minmatar BS since hybrids are soo terrible)

Better yes, but typically very expensive and using faction gear to compensate for SP may cost them a very expensive ship (either losing it to rats or getting ganked by grifers who want their shiny faction modules).
T2 modules outside of guns is a good short/medium term goal and significantly improves the performance of the ship (especially a T2 tank) and T2 modules are downright cheap. T2 guns being a long term goal of course (because the T2 gun grind is sooooo long)

Faction is an excellent choice for lvl 4's in a BS. Often faction isnt worth the ganking and has even better dps and tanking stats. And if you can afford it and does not put yourself in extra trouble, there is no reason why not to compensate the lack of SP with isk ;)
