I had the fortune to stumble onto a +3 memory implant the other day, so I'm now investing in teh might apocalypse.
I've heard of a few people doing lvl 4's in it, but not nearly as much as I've heard of the Raven for them. Anyone out there want to give some input?
Looking at:
2x Siege 6x Mega Pulse
3x Cap Recharger II 1x Sensor Booster II (?)
2x Large Acco 3-4x Hardeners 1x ???
That's more of the base hunting set up than anything, and I'm looking for what needs to change for lvl 4's. Don't know if that sensor booster is at all necessary, or if I should switch it out for a AB or another Cap Rech II. |

well the classic npc setup is either 7 megapulses or 5 megapulses + 2 seige Midslots full with whatever cap recharger you can afford and low slots 2x large armor rep, 3 hardeners and 2x cap relays.
If you got the skills this will keep running forever at about 20-25% of your cap. The torps/cruise will take care of the frigs while the megas take careof the cruisers and bses with ease.
Just make sure you're aligned with something in case you need a quick warp : they don't tank all ya know

You don't need the sensor booster...

drop the sensor booster for a cap recharger II, and put a relay in your last low slot if your skills aren't absolutely maxed _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

Are there any Level 4 missions that the Apoc Pilot should avoid?

LOL I'm the only pilot doing them in a apoc but i use 2 pc's and the other pilot is in a raven. THIS IS THE SETUP!!! 2 siege 2 mega pulses and 4 normal large pulses 4 cap 2's forget the sensor or trackking mods, they don't work either 2 named large reps or 1 large and 1 medium t2 I like the medium t2 as it is the most efficient in the game 4 active hardeners, review object explorer at eve-i for what type to harden against 1 1600mm plates, but really this is your choice
I have done them solo with this setup, but it's not as easy as a raven. and hitting frigs is next to impossible with a laser. I have yet to try tachyons and an ab as deadspace missions kills that theory. Best bet is to have a buddy in a cruiser or smaller loaded with weapons mods to assist.
Missions to avoid: SILENCE THE INFORMANT 2 bs drones that have 75% reisitance to all. It's impossible without someone armor repairing you
All my level 4 training I owe thanks to Lordjax for showing me the ropes using a raven. I use a apoc because I hate doing what's easy. Shadow1030 for those 300pt hits on webbifiers.

1 x faction repairer 2 or 3 x hardners (faction)depends on rats 2 cap relays (25%) 1 or 2 faction heatsincs (depends on hardners)

Some real comedy Setups here.
Its simple: Use a cloaked frig to set up a bm 150km off the target.
Fit:
6 Tachyons, 2 Seige 2 Tracking 2 Sensor 4 Heatsink, 2 more tracking, 1 RCII
(all tech 2 cept the seiges)
You can easily kill everything before it gets in range.
Alternatively for missions where setting up BMs isnt an option (deadspace)
6 Megapulse IIs, 2 Cruise Lanchers (on Frigs) 2 Electrochemical Cap injectors, 2 Tracking Comp IIs 2 L Accomodation Repairors, 3 hardners, 2 heat sinks

the setup is quite good.. however... if you do have more powergrid and CPU you than you need for that setup.. you could get a good large cap battery. meta loot prefereable.. only good as long as you dont waste the setup.. cause large battery give a cap bonus and recharge.

Edited by: Dash Ripcock on 05/02/2005 10:45:25 My Apocalypse setup for hunting Bloods:
High
7 * Mega Pulse 1 * Siege w/ cruise (for them pesky Intys)
Medium
3 * Cap Recharger Is (named) 1 * 100Mn Afterburner (for loot scooping)
Low
2 * L Reps (named) 2 * Hardeners (EM/Therm) 3 * Cap Relays
Drones
15 * Infiltrators
I have had no problems using this setup against Blood spawns, with the only tricky ones being the dual Harbringer spawns, since they get in close and do a lot of DOT - just blast the Intys and warp out and in again. Ranged Bloods like Dark Priests and Patriarchs are pathetically easy, and you can keep all the guns and repairers running indefinitely, or one repairer and the afterburner for closing distance on the ranged rats.

doing the lvl4 myself, for the non deadspace missiuns 8x mega beam (anode & modulated) radio t2 ab, t2 tracking, t2 sensor, cap recharger 2x cpr, 4x heat sink, pdu
warp in bm, warp out, warp in, gank, finish mission... lock is about 130k, optimal about 100k, i can go further but the missions with new spawns on the same spot require that the last npc is within 100k so the new spawn apears and you dont have to warp out.
deadspace is the usual tank, mega pulse/siege, cap recharge, 2x repair and fill the rest with hardners/heatsink/cpr a few drones to go with that and your all set

this is really basic apoc setup for 0.0 hunting:
HI - 8x mega pulse (x-ray and Radio chrystals)
MED - 4x cap recharger II's (3x cap II's 1x 18% recharger works too =)
LOW - 2x L acco reps, 3x hardners (depends on npc dmg), 2x cap relays
DRONES - Heavy or Medium.. both works gooD
With this setup you can kill almost any 0.0 spawn, except commander spawns. but i did kill a 5 and 6 mill spawn once.. then it's about how fast you can kill it.
You let me know if this setup works for lvl4 missions

Can you fit tech2 pulses instead with that fitting? Or use 6 T2 megapulses and 2 cruise/siege launchers?
With good skills that is ofc

My Apoc:
6 megapulse, 2 siege (cruise for frigs, torp for BS) 3 cap recharger (whatever you can get), AB/MWD (mission dependant) Large I-A (accom=$$$), M T2 Rep, 2 hardener, wcs, 2 cpr.
Tanks well with all cap skills @ 5, and if hardeners are named, it all fits (just swap mwd for ab if deadspace).
Can't take supreme drone parasites tho, but everything else is easy.
If there's loads of webbing frigs, just warp in @ 60, BM, then warp back @ 100. Take out the little buggers before they can get to you, and the big ships won't aggro you.

Some of these setups have 3 hardeners, how does that work with Gurista's that fire kin/them? 2x kin 1x therm or other way around. I use 2 of each, but its stopping from having 6x mega pulses, so i put some heavy beams in as well for range and the cruisers.
Other than that I think i got mine the same
3x mega pulse 3x modal focused beam 2x siege
4x cap recharger (would get cap 2's if they werent so expensive)
2x large repairer 2x kinetic hardener 2x thermal hardener 1x cap power relay
All my tracking and damage skills are at lvl4, energy sys ops at lvl5, electronics/engineering at lvl5, repair systems at lvl5, mechanic at lvl4
----
I also have an alt running about in a destroyer with dual pulse laser IIs with multispectral and 4x heatsink. Good for tickling and loot collecting.
I havent tested this setup as Ive just got hold of the apoc. I ran a lvl4 in an armageddon and slowly killed the blockade spawns, had to warp out a couple times but was in no real danger (even had time to scoop the drones) |

As regards to Silence the Informant not being possible to destroy the Supreme Drones, I have Large Energy Turret LvL 4 and the other gunnery skills on 4 mostly, with 6 standard Mega pulse and 2 x Arbalest launchers + drones, I did this in my APOC Solo the other day. I thought the odd minerals they dropped were going to be naff, When I refined it all I could not believe how much Zyd and Mega in them!!!!
Also I notice most of the setups don't mention a Heat Sink II, I almost always fit one although sometime not on the really bad missile spamming levels where its more about tanking loads of cruisers than beating a tank. The extra ROF and dmg make the diff between beating a tank and being stuck there all day.
