I recently bought a Navy Armageddon and was somewhat disappointed. I can fly a Tengu right now and the Armageddon just couldn't match up to the Tengu's DPS, even though EFT stated the difference was fairly close. I'm also guessing it's because the Armageddon's range stinks (although I was doing a mission with close orbiting BS's and good tracking mods). It just took longer than I was expecting to finish some Level 4s in the Armageddon, but they weren't difficult.
So would I see any improvements with a Navy Apocalypse? Is it worth a try? I have good Gunnery (and support) skills but I don't think I'd see much of a difference, especially since the Armageddon had a bonus to turret cycles (and Apocalypse doesn't).
Thanks

What this guy said. i fly one and it's epic. The dps is insane and the range is something else. Melting cruisers at 125km as soon as you land on grid is ace. It's got more than enough tank to fit 1 or 2 utility mids. One thing you MUST observe is you DON'T cap stable fit it. A cap stable NM is a fail NM. Cap boosted and a deadspace XL booster is pretty much the standard.
melt everything 20km+ with lasers. Anything else use light/med drones.
I am in work atm so can't link a fit but i will when i get in.
EDIT: if you're in Angel space get a Mach. If Amarr/caldari/gallente the NM trumps all. CAS UNTIL THE SERVERS DIE! |

I used and loved a Navy Geddon when I used it in WHole, almost 1k dps out of a ship that shoots Scorch out to ~80km if I recall correctly with my set up (no local rep). It became a "weaker" ship when you try putting a 300-400 constant dps tank while keeping your dps, tracking, and range on the higher end.
As you are referring to missions I am not posting my WHole mods because it is off topic, but range and dps isn't something that lacks on the ship compared to a regular Abaddon for example.
Apoc will shoot IN Multi further, but will do less dps than the Geddon if the Geddon is in range. Abaddon is a beast for a non faction ship btw if you are trying to get decent dps and decent tank on either Navy Geddon or Navy Apoc, you can look into the regular Abaddon (you better have GREAT cap skills for an Abaddon though)

Either you are doing it wrong or you don't have high enough skills. Hint, you should be using sentry drones and pulse lasers, and with that fir you should be breaking 1000 dps at 45km using scorch, while fitting a 1 rep tank and using gardes. I am at work right now or I would link a fit.

Tengu has nothing on the geddon in the DPS Department.

If you've got the ISK to spend/waste on T3 cruisers and factions BSs, why not just get a Paladin?

1107 DPS @ 33km + 24 (i.e max damage within the 40km tractor range) 707 DPS @ 119km +24 (using Gleam for sniping) 700dps Tank (vs Sanshas... swap hardeners to suit obviously) Good enough tracking to hit cruisers down to 15-20km, by which time they're in overheated web range anyway.
The Geddon isn't a mission runner imho. Drones for pesky frigates you forgot to snipe on warp-in.

Edited by: REDNECKPRICECHECK on 28/03/2011 18:56:04 Your disappointment is due to your lack of skills and is not the ships fault.
The Navy Armageddon is an absolute beast of a ship, and like someone else said will put out over 1000 DPS with Scorch + Garde II sentry drones, and over 780 DPS guns alone.
I used a fit like the following. Yes, get over it and use a capacitor booster for missioning, with 1000+ DPS you won't need much tank at all since everything just dies.
Scorch L - 786 DPS @ 45km Scorch L + Garde II - 1086 DPS @ 45km+10 Gun/36km+12 Drone Conflag (actually useful now after the fixes) + Garde II @ close range - 1306 DPS
Requires +1% PG implant Use faction hardeners to free up enough CPU to use the utility slot for an Auto Targeting System (lock 10 things at once) or for extra drone control range with a Drone Link Augmentor
When you don't need the AB, drop it and replace it with a Cap Recharger II.
