Fairly recently Pandemic Legion took out an enemy Avatar. The ship was apparently ratting, probably inside an anomaly.
I fail at EFT warrioring, so I need someone to enlighten me...how is it possible to rat using such a ship?
Moreover, how is it possible to rat in such a ship and make more than any other single vessel?(don't they have like, minutes-long targeting times?how do they track?can citadel torpedoes hit anything beside structures?)
This might be old news for a lot of people but it's amazing for me. I personally believed things STOPPED at supercarriers.

Edited by: Loraine Gess on 29/03/2011 08:33:16 Avatars don't use citadel torpedoes bro. Warp in at 100 with this, hit the sebos, and laugh all the way to the 6000+ DPS. I happen to have the fit on hand when I played around with it a month ago, so:

Lock time on a "standard" battleship is 6.1s. Tracking is 0.01, which is good enough to hit ships on approach. DPS is 6400 (before implants, you can bet he was tricked out). With a volley of 40,000, you can assume that one volley was needed per battleship.

I wonder if the rats hax can allow them to point it with scramming frigs. (Rats have spawned on pos before and can shoot through or out of pos sheilds)

I know for a fact that there are pilots in game who dualbox titans in sanctums. To my knowledge, the fastest confirmed time to clear a sanctum is six minutes.
Here's one method that ppl use. Warp in a covert ops scan ship. Follow this by an Erebus at 10-20KM for close range attack. Follow this by a Ragnarok at 100KM. Battleships pop after only a couple of shots from the Rag, and the close range Erebus clears everything else.

Wow. I'm horrified by the numbers you folks just wrote. I just couldn't wrap my head around how that monster could do such things.
Just out of curiosity, how long does it take for one of these beasts to align and warp out to another anomaly?

Plug the fit into EFT, it will show you the align time (i.e. time it takes for the ship to enter warp)

Oh God, just 46 seconds. The completion time allows them to optimally farm sanctums and havens...meaning that they can pop them just as fast as they spawn.
Well, at least they're not botting it up... :(

Remember that you have to clean the whole Sanctum before it despawns (I think? Somebody correct me if I missed something here). Even with all those faction tracking mods, a Titan still has a hard time hitting frigs and cruisers. If you want an optimal ratting ship, you are looking at a Supercarrier.

Nah, you can hit them with a sieged dread. Not 100% or anything, probably more like 50% or less, but it works. I tested a revelation + rapier(fitted with an armor buffer and 2x web/4x painter) and found that the rapier wasn't even needed...other than as a warp-to target.

You dont have to clear it whole. Pop the "main" BS in last spawn (faction, if any or strongest ship if not) and leave for 5 minutes - and itll despawn...
As of perfections - i guess if you are stuck in a titan - you mite just as well use it somehow instead of rotting in it 24/7.

Average cost of titan: 60 billion isk. Average isk/hour when ratting in a titan: 150 mil
Average titan payoff time: 400 hours Chance of surviving 400 hours of supercapital ratting: ZERO.
Conclusion: Ratting in a supercapital is ludicrously ill-advised, and alliance-owned titans should be reclaimed from their irresponsible pilots post-haste.
...Privately-owned titans should also be "reclaimed."

First of all, A Nyx makes 150m an hour ratting, A Avatar (being the best to rat in due to Crystals so you can Faction) Will clear a Sanctum in anywhere from 6-10 min, The average profit per hour is more around 300 + In Bounties alone, if the ratter is clever he will have a clean up crew which will net him another hundred /150 in good meta drop/salvage and the rest repcosed and sold, So you're looking at a figure of 500m an hour if done correctly, But most people who actually DO this, don't bother with the clean up. - Emperor
