I remember on sisi there was a UI beta, although it was a bit weird, im curious to what happened to it.

Vocal and dissatisfied minority (imo) shouted it down as crap.
Personally, it was a great step forward and it should be brought back. Signature removed for not being EVE related. Zymurgist |

Considering that they presented the new UI at fanfest I highly doubt they gave up on it. More likely they are considering feedback and trying to come up with something better.

It would be nice if they polished up the UI they had on SISI and let us choose to either keep the current one or use the new one, much like with the contracts page beta we currently have.

Long ago devs started to say that they wanted to scrap UI... it's easier to scrap new one apperantly |

Edited by: Seul Manus on 29/03/2011 13:50:29 So long as CCP takes with the new UI into account players who use large screen monitors up and inclusive 30 inches and above and their resolutions, as in for 30 inch monitors 2560 x 1600, and code the text adustment settings accordingly, the new UI if its going to be the one shown at the FF should be good.

As the new Ui was nothing less the a reorder from the left to the bottom, and a little bit customization, it was crap... nothign really changed with it.
So from my opinion it was cram, i'm pretty sure CCP realized that and has thrown it back to the drawing board, as they've said on fanfest that we will get the UI we know from all the trailers.

IIRC, there was a thread that popped up just before the UI disappeared that mentioned an associated exploit...that thread went <poof>...so...

They talked about having changed the underlying framework for the UI during Fanfest. It will make the UI seem more like the one seen in trailers in the future.

Scrapped because of negative feedback, one CCP dev said that the exploit reason wasn't true.
Anyway at fanfest CCP stated they were working on a 3D UI, like what we see in the recent trailers. Apparently Capatain's Quarters will be the first part of EVE to use this new UI.

Personally I think it would be neat if they implemented an option to choose between the both of the diff UI's, I know I'd be VERY intrested in the new one. I saw a few pictures and it looked very nice indeed. It's sad that a few houndred or so people would dictate the state of the game and UI. People who like things that's in testing usualy do not go on the forums and praise the devs about it, but smiles and thinks that this looks good.
While the butthurt people who are to narrowminded to change go on the forums and scream and cry until thier eyes are dry...
TL:DR Please CCP make an option to choose between the both, would be very nice!

Said it wasn't true. Meant that it's there in the existing client but harder (not impossible) to access. CBA'd to fix the exploit. Read between the lines... CCP's only doing stuff for the $ right now, regardless of quality. That was the fanfest message beginning to end.

You mean the thing where the UI is in the actual room?

It was just a reply I read in a thread about scrapping the new UI, I can't find the original thread so I have no lines to read between. Besides like I said, they're completely remaking the entire UI.

I think that's what was implied, that those monitors inside the Capatain's Quarters would be interactable, but for the actual 3D UI itself, overview, neocom etc, what we have now, would be 'more like what we you see in our recent trailers'.
If I were to guess, the monitors in the Capatain's Quarters and the UI in space will be completely different design wise, but use the same technology under the hood.
