I recently had to reformat my system that I have been playing Eve on for many years. I set Eve to download last night before I went to bed. When I got on after work today I was greeted with what I now know to be known as the "Splash and Crash". Possible problems I think I may have are: 1) Firewall does not have a port open for Eve and I do not know which port to open for it to work. 2) I just downloaded the new version of DirectX but no other drivers/programs that Eve may run on because I cannot find a list of these necessary programs.
Eve worked on my system just yesterday before I reformatted but it will not now. I do not want to go through a re-installing of Eve as this takes a little over an hour. Are there any possible fixes I could try? Try to keep any suggested fixes simple as I am not the most computer literate person around.
PS: Unlike other "Splash and Crash" complaints, my eve.exe process does not go away in my processes tab of task manager.
PSS: Sorry if posted in the wrong topic, couldn't find one specifically for this type of topic, and for all the trolls who will say "WRONG THREAD!!1!!?1!"... GTF over it.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys may have to my problem.

Edited by: Barakkus on 30/03/2011 19:46:17 Aside from posting on the forums, run the logserver.exe and submit the results as well as the info from DxDiag in a bug petition and someone over at CCP should be able to help you a bit as well.

Few checks: 1. do you get an error message? 2. if not, check if you have another monitor where eve is running?! 3. run the repair.exe inside the eve installation folder. 4. ??? 5. profit

Also try running the directx setup in the eve folder as well, there were some situations just like yours where running that fixed it. There was also a fix where installing the latest C++ Runtime redistributables from Microsoft as well. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Edited by: Antomus on 31/03/2011 15:46:11 I have downloaded the offline version of Eve and it still wont work. I updated all my computer's drivers. I even paid $10 for a program that locates and automatically updates all of your computer's drivers.
What ports does Eve use in firewall? I do not see any open for it in my firewall.

No, just the splash screen, then nothing. When the Eve Client would normally open up, nothing happens. And I have no other monitors.

26000 I believe, but there is no inbound connection, only outbound, so unless your firewall also has restrictions on outbound, it's not likely your firewall. What firewall are you using? - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring
