Just curious if anyone else has had a similar bug:
Basically, audio will work upon starting the client however clicking off eve into another window/application causes audio in Eve to vanish. This happens pretty much everytime and Ive found that by going to the audio settings in Eve, clicking "Echo test" brings audio back. (untill I click off the Eve window again)
I had the same problem in older wine versions too.
Its not a huge issue, just a little annoying.
Anyone else had this problem?

Same deal here. It's really inconsistent. Sometimes the audio works fine, other times it doesn't work at all, and other times it only works on the login screen. A bit annoying, but I mostly play in windows because eve tends to crash for me under linux.

I'm having this problem too, except it's not when EVE loses focus, it just randomly cuts out. I"ll try the echo test thing.. it's not perfect, but if it means I don't have to restart each time, then I guess it's better than nothing!

I think that may have been a regression in Wine around the 1.3.13 area.

I'm having the same problem. Ubuntu 10.10 with wine 1.2.2. I'm experiencing similiar problems with "Spotify" through wine. Though spotify doesn't have the echo test =)

Interesting new finding, not sure why/how this happens.
- Start EVE in wine (Do not login).
- The sound works just fine aswell as background music(intro screen).
- Focus outside of EVE in any window, e.g. Firefox.
- Sound is now gone from EVE.
- Now login(cause the "echo test" doesn't exist before you login).
- Use the "echo test" feature. When you use the "echo test" button you will here the "Connecting" voice and the background sound from the intro screen fading out. Ones that has been played the music is gone entirely, cause the jukebox can't find the sound files(I changed the name of audio-directory) but EVE ui sound works.
The interesting part is that when I use the echo test, sound that should have been played way before, is played. Is it the same for anyone else?

I had similar problems (sound stopped working after a while, and only returned after reboot), and my solution was: completely disable sound in EVE and in Wine. How did that solve my sound problem, you might ask? Well, it didn't! But since then, I can dualbox without that one of my clients crashes after a while (there seems to be a connection). It turns out that sound is not that important in EVE, and EVE voice didn't work for me anyway.

Edited by: Kayen Qeid on 10/07/2011 13:19:38 If you're using Ubuntu and want to use wine with PulseAudio use Wine from PPA: https://launchpad.net/~c-korn/+archive/ppa
That did solve it for me. For more information I have posted my findings over at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=23787 (You might need an account to see the entire thread, if I'm not logged in I can only view my first post, my question). Tested today with Incarna. |
