Hello, my suggestion is a small heading vector drawn for ships in the tactical overlay. The idea came me when I was running a mission and tried to optimze my gun tracking watching the columns for the npc opponents velocity/radial/transversal. At some distance to the foe it is impossible to see in which direction an oponent ship steers. Only way to see it is zooming in and out with the mouse wheel. A small drawn arrow from the center of the targeting cross in the tactical overlay, which shows the ship heading of a locked opponent, could come very handy. Regards Azureus Syntake

We were actually chatting about this a few weeks ago and introducing vectors to the tactical overlay so you get a directional indicator. Would be very sweet indeed, its nothing the client is not already aware of so should be straightforward to do

What about incorporating targeted ships heading in relation to the heading of the piltos ship on the tactical overlay?
Ships heading's that have been targeted would be denoted in red while non-targeted ships heading's would be shown in grey.

If you're going to revamp the HUD to look more like in the trailers, why not add a kind of lead indicator like the ones you often see in more twitch-based space (or air-to-air) shooters?
It won't serve that specific purpose here, of course, since the turret tracking formula takes care of the actual aiming, but it could be used as a graphical indicator of the general heading and speed of a target and would do so in a logical and, for many, familiar manner. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

If you're revamping the Tactical Overlay, could you please take turret tracking into account? Green tag for targets if my weapons are tracking them, yellow for marginal tracking and red for no tracking. Also would like to be able to modify the transparency and color settings (atm, the Tactical Overlay is too distracting)

So the secret to getting you to look at feature that has been proposed in many different ways, on many occasions, and is apparently dead simple to implement, is to post a thread about it after you've been chatting about it over lunch....
Would it be possible to get minutes of your lunchtime conversations so we can target our ideas more effectively?
The tactical overlay, UI, and flight control system need a major overhaul. Preferably from the standpoint of making it easier to do complicated things not to make it complicated/impossible to do simple things. Vectors would be nice, but are still only ducktape on something broken.
At the moment the eve UI forces the creation of MANY windows which need to be open and big enough to be useable. Many players regard the 3d view of space as a 2 by 2 inch hole in the middle of the screen between the windows. Space is navigated through and targets selected on the overview, which is a flat list that can never give the same information as a proper 3d tactical system. To compound the problem you navigate through space by clicking in space in the direction you want to go... i.e. in the 2 by 2 inch hole in the middle of all the windows you have ON TOP of the space youÆre supposed to click on.
The available tactics for use in big fleet battles is not in the main limited by game mechanics, or a lack of player imagination. Its limited by the UI, Its limited by the way we control our ships, and fleets. Give us more options for controlling the ships, more commands and manoeuvres we can do, either manually or automatically. And give us a UI that allows us to see all the information we need in 3d tactical space rather than a chaotic cloud of overlapping flashing icons and a flat overview. And better, more interesting tactics will be developed by the players which will make combat more fun, and more interesting.
But for a start vectors will help. __________________________________________________
