Hello everyone, I hope I can have an answer soon.
I am having a friend download the Client for EVE Online. But when he downloads it from the website it doesn't even go above 160 kb/ps.
Is there a place where he could download it from somewhere else. He has no problem downloading anything from somewhere else. But when it comes to this site it slows down alot.

Hi there, as far as the download speed is concerned it taken me in the past about two hours using wifi, thats averaging between 150 to 290kbps. As far as the other I'm not sure of. It also depends on his location and who his internet provider is.
If he has anything open programs running in the background they should be turned off, plus I have at times, turned off my firewall in order to down load files like this and it usually works ok. Hope this helps at least some for your friend,

he just has to put up with it, unfortunately. For some reason, I've had the same issue with games in particular. I'll download some things at over 1 MB/s, but then I go to use steam or download games from sites like WoW or eve and I get a pathetic 100-200 kb/s.
this brings back terrible memories of Blizzard customer support... jackasses....

Bizarre, I've never had an issue downloading from the CCP site. In fact, I'm downloading it again, it's sitting at 4MB/sec, as usual. It's the one thing they appear to be able to get right ;p

I saw the same issue at a friends place where it initially raced along and then went down to about 100-200kb/ps. I gave up there and came home to run it overnight - and when I got up this morning it had only done 8% over the wireless and seemed to have dropped right down to aout 30 kb/ps.
I decided to connect it to the router with a proper Ethernet but still only looking at 175-180 speeds and it's back to saying it will load up in about 6 hours.
I am gutted as I know I am at the end of the broadband exchange and my speeds can be quite slow but it doesn't explain why it was the same at my friends place who has cable broadband and was initially about twice as fast before it dropped off.
I am using a brand new Dell Alienware Mx15 so hopefully it's not an issue with the machine but this time leaving it/keeping an eye on it until I have to go out today. Fingers crossed when I get back it will have finished as I have limited download rates so I may well then get clobbered with that!!
