If they are fleeing, either out of cowardice of the inability to fight any longer, then the fight is over. Shooting people in the back isn't my style.

I agree with jack, shooting people in the back is one of the few things I don't do.
But if I had no choice, The Admiral, any chance to weaken their fleet even a little.

Hah, I hadn't noticed that! Though I am more or less certain atmospheric effects would make laser weaponry much less effective than in space.

Lets see, in space, the Cartel Slave ring boss.
If this was for some reason in person, and they were already fleeing, none of them. I'd fire my last round as a warning shot and politely request they all stop where they are while station authorities arrive on the scene. If they don't, oh well, if even one of them does, all the better.

Well even regular crystals would take much higher damage in an atmosphere. High temperatures and oxygen play havoc on mechanical parts, after all.
In fact, I'm not even sure if there are any planet-side laser weapons at all. I've only ever really seen projectile and railgun weapons planet-side, to be honest.

None of them. They've been defeated. Humiliated. Humbled. Let them return home in shame, knowing they were the inferior ones.
Death is too merciful for any of these, when shame and humiliation is an option.

End of a firefight, down to your last bullet, 3 fleeing targets and no time to reload
a) Amarrian Bishop b) Ammatar Admiral c) Cartel Slave ring boss
Only time and ammo to finish one of them. Who gets your last bullet?
An interesting question. Well, the Cartel Slave Ring Boss is only making a dishonest ISK and there's no guarantee his slaves would benefit from his death. The Bishop is a product of his own lies, it would be akin to punsishing a Caldari for being too industrious. So that leaves the Admiral... I wouldn't shoot to kill but I would give him/her a nice keepsake so they can savour their defeat.

However, your weapons capacitor is going to be much less grand than say an Abaddon's. And I doubt you could cram a real generator on a handweapon...

In this case I do believe the aim was not to enslave the bishop, but rather to introduce him to the tragic situation of being on Vitoc.

Precisely why I'm wondering whether or not there are hand-held or shoulder-mounted laser weaponry for infantry. I mean I don't spend any time with Amarrian ground forces (in fact I've only ever seen Republic ground troops), so I'm not sure. I can certainly see the appeal of projectile weaponry though, being cheaper and easier to maintain.

There are infantry energy weapons. You're correct, though, in assuming it is not as simple as a projectile weapon. Because of this, it is much more common to see hybrid and projectile style personal weaponry.
As for the mechanics of it, these energy pistols and such generally are hooked directly into a power supply pack that is worn on the soldier's back. Even so, this power is hardly limitless. The weapons are pretty effective though. "I retrofitted my ships to fire produce. It's all the rage." |

Offer a final prayer for God's forgiveness, and then shoot yourself.
(Assuming for this hypothetical that you have to shoot something; better to throw down your weapon and offer yourself into slavery.)

So I imagined. I bet its a pretty grisly sight, seeing a pulse laser used on the human body..

I am pretty sure if an amarrian loyalist did a similar post involving a last energy cell in a pulsegun and 3 targets to shoot - a freedom fighter, a republic general and a blooder - most of the matari loyalists speaking here would have been offended. |

Knowing what i do now about the circumstances of the Nefantar's original defection and their sacrifice, i don't think i could just shoot one in the back. In a ship, in space, sure, but that would just be undignified. The Amarrian bishop, i'm torn. I wouldn't just shoot him for being a bishop - as a civilian, but he was presumably involved in the firefight somehow. But really it would have to be the Cartel Slaver. He's not just involved with owning slaves or passively complicit to the perpetuation of slavery, but likely actively involved in enslaving our kin right now. Bullet to the head.

Looking at things from a purely symbolic stance as far as what the 3 represent within the Amarrian slave trade and culture, then I would choose the bishop, religion is the primary driving force behind the Amarrian slave culture. Without religion no slavery, no slavery no customers thus eliminating the Cartel boss, also eliminates the need for war between our people thus making the admiral no longer my enemy.
If this is a more realistic question then it would have to be the Admiral, the bishop is a civilian and while still dangerous is not an immediate physical threat to me. The Cartel Boss while a threat and a criminal is one who is best delt with by the authorities. The admiral however I am at war with and his actions directly impact and influence me every day making him the largest potential threat and the highest priority target to eliminate.

How would that one go on, you think?
Bartender goes: "Hey slim howmuch for the fat one?"
Cartel slaver: "You can have two for the price of one today."

Some galnet entries do mention a war between the Mandate and republic http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Ammatar_Mandate
The reality of the situation though, is much more small skirmishes fought by capsuleers, setup by various agents of those nations, not unlike what happens between the empire and federation for that matter. Galnet entries could however, be outdated or erroneous.

In any case, the afore mentionned ammatar admiral is not at war with captain Fyral, nor with any other capsuleer. |
