Let's say that i have a certain amount of isogen. The NPC buys it at 64isk & players buy it at 40 - 50 isk. When i sell the isogen i always have to sell to the players who want it, at lower prices. In real life a person who sells something would sell it to the highest bidder(NPC in this case) so, why isn't it like this in the game? players who want minerals & don't want to mine should offer more isk than the NPC's!
Is this some kind of mistake? is it going to be fixed? or is this just how it's meant to be? or, is it possible to put up a buying order at 64isk & let the NPC buy the minerals? --- i think somebody already asked this question but without a search option i ain't gonna browse thrue all the pages :/

This is the way economy goes.
It all depends on you. If you want to hold out until you find 64ISK/pc then eventually the people will raise their offers because they can't get what they want at the price they want.
You can't sell something at 55ISK and then ask why people don't pay 64ISK. Why should they when there are people like you selling for 55ISK?

waiting untill i can sell to NPC wouldn't be needed if the economy systems would be 'real'. NPC's are always there, it's not that they 'dissapear' once a players offers less money for an item then the NPC does Why do i sell at lower price anyway? => i need the money... can't wait a week for the NPC to buy my stuff. If it was possible i really would wait!

I believe that you should have a choice as to who you sell things to. When you go to sell something you only have that one buyer there. Need the choice! "Long live the fighters!!" |

The economy IS real, the NPC vendors only need certain amounts. Once they get it, then they don't want anymore. That's the way real economy works. Everything is only worth as much as you're willing to pay/sell. You sell at 55ISK because you feel it's worth the lower profits to get rid of it sooner and move on.
I always hold out for 64ISK. Why? Because I believe my time is worth 64ISK/pc for Isogen.
How do gas stations sell their gas for 1.54/gallon while another sells for 1.52/gallon? They make their money from guys not unlike yourself who don't want to bother with making that extra turn just to save 2 cents.

You do have a choice, put up a sell order for 64ISK/pc. The consumer then has the choice of whether they want to buy from you at 64ISK/pc or buy from EroniX for 55ISK/pc. Guess which one is going to be 'their' choice?

NPC players are willing to buy millions of units so i don't think it's possible that the buying order is filled within 10 minutes or less. Players just shouldn't get the advantage over NPC's when the players are buying minerals at lower prices
Your gas station example is about people who buy stuff, i'm talking about selling stuff.
Let's reform your example =>
Your gasstation only has 50 gallons left. Two buyers are there, buyer A offers 1$/gallon & buyer B offers 2$/gallon, to who would the gasstation sell the gas?

I would sell to the one offering 2 bucks of course, but in your case, there isn't anyone offering two bucks. So therefore, the gas station (you) has two choices, sell the 50 gallons (Isogen) to the guy offering one buck (55ISK) or hold out and wait for the guy paying 2 bucks (64ISK).
When was the last time you saw an NPC buying millions of pieces of Isogen? Never, because there aren't NPCs buying that many. People do buy Trit by the millions though, not Isogen. You need to check more carefully.
Most NPC orders for Isogen don't go past 20000 after downtime. It takes me 5 minutes to kill the entire Isogen market in my system after downtime. I hop to all the stations and unload all my Isogen at 64ISK/pc make around 10 mil a day all within those 5 minutes.
If everyone did what I did. Sooner or later, players will be offering 64ISK (maybe even 65ISK) for Isogen because they'll soon find there's no way they can get it for less other than mining themselves.
Another thing to keep in mind, Isogen is a completely flooded market, because every week-old newbie is mining Omber and Kernite. And dumping it on the market for the fastest buck, no matter how cheap. Just so they can get that shiny new ship soon as humanly possible. The supply is simply towering over the demand by miles and miles. Wait till you start mining stuff that gives you Zydrine and Megacyte, then you'll see the tables turn. NPC top price for Zydrine is 1024/pc. Players sell those for 1200/pc and get plenty of buyers. That's the evidence of a real economy.

Being a trader I know well the mineral game. As I constantly keep my eye on ore/mineral prices. I buy in bulk say 150k Pyrite for 2 each and I will hold onto that till I see it for sale 6isk. So trading may be to blame for high priced buys not being around. I see someone buying 1 million Trit for 2 ISK each I will go buy 1 million trit and go sale it making double my money. Same goes for Iso I buy it all the time for 40 and wait till I find buyers at 66 ISK. SOO really you have to beat the traders to all the high buyers. So its worth it to stock it and keep an eye out. Its more worth it for miners to do this then traders as its only time that is invested so all the more money made. |
