In the last few weeks, we have seen some reports on users being unable to resolve a few hostnames, namely cdn1.eveonline.com and images.cdn1.eveonline.com.
The majority of the users having these problems are using either Comcast or EastLink as their Internet provider, but we have seen a couple of reports from players not using one of these providers. However, the issue seems to be limited to a subset of users on a couple of Internet Providers.
We are working on identifying and resolving the problem, but currently we have no estimate on when the issue will be resolved. In the meantime, any user experiencing this problem can change their DNS settings to use a free DNS such as Google DNS while we work on permanently resolving the issue.
If have been affected by this issue and this workaround work for you, please file a petition using the following categories: Other Issues > Community. Please be sure to put "Attention CCP Zirnitra" within the petition, with the following additional information:
- the name of your Internet service provider - the city or town in which you reside, with country

my two cents: submit a ticket, place the write out a full explanation of what you think it is, and leave additional contact info for yourself/some other techhead who knows whats happening.
also for those with this issue, here are some DNS servers for you openDNS they are relible, when your ISP is not redirecting all DNS querys to its own servers, for those who want a more complete list try here

Hi all,
I was in contact with XxJebxX, a few minutes after reading his reply, and we believe the issue should now be fixed. I would love if someone who have been using the Google DNS (or similar service) could test this and verify that you are now able to connect to the CDN and Image services using your normal DNS servers, before we close this issue.
Regards, - Zirnitra

Edited by: Kimboaticus on 07/04/2011 00:11:31 Edited by: Kimboaticus on 07/04/2011 00:10:59 I can confirm that those sites now work for me. I am an EastLink customer in Ontario, Canada. Thanks everyone for working on this as it has been an issue for about 3 weeks for me.
Users might want to open a command prompt and type in "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the quotes) after switching back to their ISP's DNS servers as they may have cached ip info from whatever alternate DNS servers they were using. This will ensure that they are actually "asking" their ISP's DNS servers to resolve the name rather than relying on any cached info. Or they could just reboot I suppose.

I'm a Comcast customer (US Midwest).
I've reverted back to the Comcast DNS (had switched to Google) and it looks like the problem is fixed.
Nice work.

Not sure if this is related, but I am a time warner customer in the US having connectivity issues since about the time this topic was posted. The issues occur on more than one computer, and changing the DNS seems to help (ie switching to google.) but after about a half hour the issue comes back, at which point I can flush the dns (ipconfig /flushdns), set back to default and play for a bit. Then it will stop loading, and I'll be able to login for a little over a minute before I lose everything again. No other connectivity issues are occurring. |

I'm a Comcast customer.
I've had a couple of timse where I could not connect to Tranquility or the forum even though I knew they were up by talking to corpmates on our mumble server.
I would not categorize it as solely a DNS issue. Using the server's ip address it would tracert to some place called packetexchange.net and stop there. I believe it to be in the US just before the packets left to go international. After a few hours of waiting it would clear up. Happened twice that I'm aware of.
