I'd heard there was going to be a pointless "Like" button, but I'm glad to see they weren't that stupid in the end. CCP never let me down.

I know, the new forums look exactly like the old one. I just can't put my tongue on what they changed. Anyway it looks to be very stable and awesome, and they even were able to transfer the old database to the new one here.
Props CCP, awesome new forums.

Love the new fora. On the old ones "Like" was useless, the Avatars too big and the possible code injection and trojan minigame was nerve whrecking. ______________ Mal-¦Appears we got here just in a nick of time. What does that make us?¦ Zoe-`Big damn heroes, sir.` Mal-¦Aint we just.¦ |

Yeah I mean, the way they're fully integrated with the whole eve website instead of being separate, and the complete lack of security holes, it was definitely worth waiting all these months for!

The new forums, minus the glaring security holes were a drastic improvement over these. Yes. Very much so.

They need a tiny bit of 3rd party userscripts to work like they allegedly should. And the "like" feature was discontinued because nobody liked it. And the security was radically improved ! Also, the readability was greatly improved too !

(please note this is really the only forums I read so wether or not shc looks like the new forums is irrelevant as I dont read there) ---------------------------------------- CCP Forum fail ALMOST as much fail as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnZb5wi_jsU |

can you elaborate, what exactly were "improvements"?
I'll try to guess ..
1. "Like" feature? it couldn't be an improvement since they did not even implemented it correctly. It's supposed to be by post (not just my opinion, devs' too - read the blog about new forums), they made it by character which is more than pointless.
2. Bigger portraits and omg beautiful background picture, and awesome HUGE quotes decoration? This is a matter of personal aesthetic preference of course. But i don't see it as an improvement in functionality. Besides, it should not concern you apparently since
Quote: -Im not interested in aesthetics, I fly Minmatar.
3. Limit of number of quotes per post? looks like degradation to me.
4. No more sidebar? Definitely degradation.
5. The fact that they were slow as hell, so slow that the Gestures plugin I use (with trails) became unusable while on the new forums and overall it's annoying to read them on my netbook with ff4 because of all the slowness, where every other site is working fine? Another degradation.
6. Maybe you mean EVE Gate integration? Let's see what THAT actually changed.. Here it is - with old forums, I can change the posting character with 2 clicks. With new forums, to do the same I need about a dozen of clicks and waiting for teh lags of about a minute. What is this if not another degradation?
7. Search feature? Maybe but I used google anyway, worked just fine for me.
So where exactly didn't I look to notice any more improvements?
SO as it is, the Search feature is the ONLY improvement, but is it worth all the degradations? I doubt it.

It was by post. Characters had accumulated like counts posted but each post also had a count of how many likes were made. It was right next to the like button. -- There's a place called kugutsumen.com but don't go there. It's icky. |

The best part about the 'new' forums was that some of their functions did not work within the in-game browser. Nothing like clicking on an external link, clicking through the pop-up, and watching absolutely nothing happen. Because the best quality testing is no testing at all.
Seriously though, those forums had some nice features, albeit ones which had been properly implemented long ago on virtually every other decent forum out there without security holes so huge you could drive an Avatar conga line through them. Some players have been using the current 'old' forums for almost eight years; we can wait a few more months if it means that we don't have to beta test a half-finished product. I think the point many players keep trying to get across, and the point that CCP seems intent on ignoring, is that most players don't mind waiting a few weeks or months in order to get a more-polished product.
