I disagree with this. Many times I want to "like" something without wanting to reply. For example, right now if I could have simply given you a thumbs down instead of replying, I would have done it. The only reason I'm replying is because I like to hear myself talk.

I've been trying to figure out how to have the thumbs up on a non-Assembly Hall post.
What I can figure out thus far is that you need to somehow edit the form that you get when you reply to include code that looks like this within the reply form for the other parts of the forum
Quote:
<tr> <td class="mbForum" align=right valign=center >Support this topic:</td> <td class="mbForum" align=left valign=top ><input type="checkbox" name="supportTopic" >Check here if you want to give your support to the idea/discussion going on</td> </tr>
But that's as far as I got.

Well I eve-mailed Kita but yeah you add that right after the </tr> for the preview post. Firebug or chrome's dev tools will let you. -- There's a place called kugutsumen.com but don't go there. It's icky. |

In the old forums you can unfortunately like only the thread OP itself but not the replies.

Yeah, it would be better if we could just "like" a post instead of replying and saying "I agree" or "this" or "+1" or "QFT". That way the thread would be less clogged with basically useless posts.
Just because that's the only we've had to show our support or agreement doesn't mean it's a good way. -----WARNING SIGNATURE BELOW-----

That's no good... we'll wind up with a Goonswarm Forum Patrol deleting everything that doesn't result in people sending them isk.

Edited by: Flattomz on 11/04/2011 15:52:23 It has been done on the League of Legends forums; if the OP receives too many negative votes the thread is closed. If this is a regular post which reaches this limit it collapses (but you can still expand it to see its content).

The new forums will have that feature once they roll out. But only likes will be possible no dislikes as far as we have been told. --

Oh well. The possibility that someone could've missed the new forums in the whole 1.5 days in which they were online didn't seem absolutely remote at the time of writing. --
