Hello,
I am in US, using 25Mbit Download / 25Mbit upload provider (speedtest.net is actually 21Mbps both ways) but when I run BitTorrent it becomes impossible to play EVE. It drops the connection every 1-2 minute, although I can decently browse web pages or download other stuff?
Does anyone has any ideas what is going on? Are there any restrictions I can apply to BitTorrent to have playable EVE and be able to seed/pier stuff?
Thank you in advance!

Try running it for a few days without Bit torrent running would be my advise, a number of other posts have had disconnection problems, me included, and I doubt they all run Torrents, I dont, but have the same issue.

I would suggest that you submit a bug report on the issue. The type of information that helps includes PC specs, connection type, what Bittorrent client you are using and any error messages or logs that you can provide.

Mine, 20Mb down // 3.0Mb up

I play EVE and run uTorrent. Dollars to donuts, it is your upload speed. On my uTorrent I have set download to unlimited, upload to 4kbits/s and I have no problems, there is noticeable slow down in playing and loading web when my upload is higher than 9kbits/s.
So. In conclusion. Set the upload speed of your torrent client to something low or even set the client not to upload. If you use uTorrent, use Scheduler to allow upload when you are sleeping or at work.

It was revealed that a bunch of internet providers across North America use software that throttles data transfer rate when it detects bitTorrent software being active. I used to have the same problem with all my online games - if i have uTorrent active, it would disconnect me from online games, even though i can browse internet normally.
There is no workaround client-side. You just have to complain to your ISP.

As the guy above me said, ISP's tend to throttle your internet speed when they detect torrent-like behaviour on your stream (at least that's what they do here in OZ). An easy way around this is to set your uTorrent or whatever program you use to _only_ handle encrypted content, thereby masking the connections from the ISP's standard detection. You will have slower downloading and uploading speeds, yes, but you will be able to play EVE while downloading all your space ****.

actually its not I have 25 mbps down 20 mbps up through my ISP. Actual 24.6 down 19.7 up via speed test. ------------------------------------------------- If pro is the opposite of con, then isn't congress the opposite of progress? |
