Well, I just started doing missions last night. I have over 13 mill sp but only around 100k in gunnery. I can fly a few bs's a crow and some cruisers, iteron 5's mining barge 5's etc.
The point I am trying to make is I do not know f all about agent missions. I talked to some guys and they helped me find a R & D agent in caldari space which I am just assuming would be the best bet for my character a I am unable to fight really anything other than the urge to wet fart while standing in line for some quafe...
It would be great if anyone had some suggestions on what is best to do. I cna post a list of all skills if need be so maybe someone can help a mental midget such as myself in the mission field...
Oh ya I put in with a agent lvl 3 -20 and picked eletron something where they give out tech two 425 BPO it said. I waited and waited and nothing happened... I clicked it again the agent that is and it said I wanna pick someone else or something so I just closed it out and did not choose to pick another agent.. Wtf is going on though is this guy asleep takin a dump WATCHING THE SUPERBOWL ???
Well, enough with the ignorance if someone would be so kind as to help me !!! ???

It sounds like you are asking what to do a mission running character, which is a very broad question. I've been spending the odd moments of my days for the past two weeks writing a noob guide that will include extensive mission suggestions, but its no where near done (I don't have enough odd moments....)
With a more specific question, a short answer might be possible.

Well a good start would be to look at the sticky at the top of the first page. Not sure how you could have missed it.
Seriously though, read the guides, they should tell you all you need to know about the wonderful world of missions. If after reading them you have more specific questions then you can either post them in here or join the missions channel in game.
Just one thing to point out for now. R & D agents are used for research purposes only, you'll get a daily mission with them but this is only to increase the number of research points in whatever research project you take up with them. If you want to run normal missions then pick an agent who works in any other department. If your combat skills really aren't up to much then shy away from the security departments as they'll give more kill missions than courier missions. |

Personaly I fall under the same character type and if you want to start doing missions without waiting till you have a bizillion points in Gunnery you're going to have to courier missions. That means grabbing your hauler taking something somewhere else. I also suggest finding a Mining corp and working for a mining agent. I've got little over 600k gunnery and I regularly do level 4 missions, courier and a few mining missions mostly.

Well, I thought it was self explaintory. I broke it down into seperate questions.
Question one is.
What is the best missions to do when you have no skills with gunnery only 13 plus million in science and industry ?
Question 2 is why did my agent do nothing when I picked what I wanted to do for him other than the next day which is now tell me Quote: I can no longer await your response to my offer. I am displeased by your indecisiveness.

U really need to read the sticky on topp, also read what BlueSmok said above. And u dont need loads of gunnery sp¦s to run kill missions... well, some of the new lvl4¦s can be kinnda nasty...
I got about 600k gunnery sp and used to be abel to do all lvl3 missions, if u want to see how... DL the movies i linked to a few posts down in my auction that u find in my sig. I AM NOT FOR SALE! |

Lodarus: I understand exactly what you're asking. And i'm not about to refer to you to some sticky either.
I have set my alt to do missions as well, but the problem is, she has no gunnery skills, but very high in refinery/mining. Plus she has iteronV so what did I do with her? Well for one thing, I trained the VERY basic skills for gunnery, to at least be able to equip a Medium Turret on a cruiser.
Next, you need to find a division that will do hauling trips 90% of the time. I recommend something like Marketing. I rarely get a Kill mission and its usually cake if I get one. But with no real gunnery skills, you have no choice but to get into courier types of divisions. For that specific breakdown, youll have to search and read what are the probabilities of kill vs. courier in each division.
Good luck

Thanks Bedrock I thought it was as easy as you made it out to be.
People keep syaing they have 600k in gunnery well as I stated I only have 100k and do not want that many really. I can use a medium weapon so I guess thats what I have to do. I am using a r&d right now and it has been nothing but hauling thus far. Well, for him I purchsed some plat in same station now I guess I wait all day for him to need me again.. I use the level 2 + 18 to run stuff from place to place and make alittle crappy money...

Hm you do know that R&D-agents aren't really for agentrunning per se but for gaining tickets in the tech 2 bpo -lottery right? That's why they only give you one mission a day and only gives RP in reward. Pick any other division and you can make as many missions a day as you want. And yeah hauling is really your best bet if you don't have enough gunneryskills. Still I've done all lvl 3 kill missions except the Mordus one with less then 100k gunnery sp (and in a cruiser to boot) so that's possible too (though it was a while ago so maybe that's changed). As for which divisions give which type of missions distribution for example gives almost purely couriermissions while security gives almost purely kill missions. Mining and production is in the middle somewhere but that's then modified by your equipped ship so if you go to a production agent in an Iteron V you're vastly more likely to get a couriermission then a hauling one (this doesn't really apply to the more "purer" divisions as they're so heavily geared towards one missiontype they'll most likely give it to you anyway). Finally you can say no to a mission when offered and unless you said no to another offer within the last 4 hours you won't get any penalty - if you have it's a smaller standingpenalty. So you can pass instead of waiting unless you keep doing it very often. ------------------------- "Real Men Hull Tank" CCP Hammer |

I appreciate that response. I am using a tristan right at the moment. I am just running things back and forth. I needed a bigger hold so I picked up a bb and set it up for NPC if needed. I runt he tristan almsot everytime and will purchase another ship if needed. I am mainly doing this to jump on the bandwagon and grab some of those nifty tech two bpo's like the cap recharger 2's etc. I really do not like paying 15 mill a pop for something that should be so muchhhh cheaper.
I do not really know what I am doing as I stated so all the input helps.

Edited by: Delath on 08/02/2005 02:06:20 Well just don't expect to get any tech II bpo tomorrow They hand very few of them out so you'll have to wait for months or possibly even years to get one (on average that is - of course you can get lucky early on too) - especially if you use a lowlevel R&D -agent like you appearantly do - the amount of RP you get per day vastly increases with higher levels. So choose a corp with some good lvl 4 R&D agent in it and start doing missions for other divisions to get good enough standing with them to be able to use their best R&D agent. ------------------------- "Real Men Hull Tank" CCP Hammer |
