Yep getting the same thing here (mid-south USA). It could be related to their enhanced routing system - if it optimized the only route out of the picture

So we're looking at a few hours at least before the routing tables reset and things start working again. Good fight, internet.

Well it appears that London is staying up and the servers are located there. It also appears that large parts of the US are not up. That seems to indicate a routing problem somewhere between the US and London. If the packets don't get routed to the CCP servers then the client just hangs up.

COX customer here North East.
Ship froze in space a couple times, unable to dock first. Second time unable to jump through a gate. Or any gates.
Just putting it out there not just Comcast.

Good information! Thanks! So its either a serious internet routing issue, or the new route optimization code isnt working right maybe

This is why I preferred the Big Truck over the Series of Tubes. The Big Truck was slower, but a lot more reliable.

I find it little bit strange that EVE client doesnt give any notification before it restarts because it has lost connection to server. Anyways that is the cause of most "crashes".
...perhaps this can get updated some day? ------------------------------------------------- Play with the best - die like the rest starwreck.com - support the cause :) |

It wouldn't be so bad but they had the same exact issue a week/10 days ago.
Right after a patch. Same traces, same results. All on CCP's new 'brilliant' routing side.
It's okay if things happen once; that's coding across many variables. But the EXACT problem for the same set of customers is very frustrating. It would be nice if they reimbursed the affected clientele for their obvious repeat screw up.

very curious that EVEMon (and by extension the API Servers) continues to work just fine. Wonder where the API server is located?

Yes it is. Seems to indicate that it probably is related to the new routing layer they implemented in the latest release.

For what it's worth, EvEMon, EvE, and CCP websites are down for me (East Coast, US, Comcast). The websites I checked were eveonline.com and ccpgames.com which appear to be at the same IP anyhow. Had to VPN to a site in the Midwest, US to access the forums (other restrictions prevent from testing EvEMon/Game).
Traceroute (when not on VPN) dies at the 201-126-245-83.packetexchange.net [83.245.126.201] hop as posted by Binky McGee previously. |
