Hi all,
a lot of people claim that if all bots were banned, CCP would earn less.
On the other hand, there are many players - myself included - that would be happy to pay a bit more if Eve was bot-free.
Thus, what about the following idea: CCP to set up a PLEX against botting programme, were people can donate spare PLEX in order to help/motivate/reward CCP for stopping bots.

You're saying pay more, so CCP can act like they care about bots...? Bad idea. CCP should already fix the bot issue, we pay enough already.

Edited by: Narisa Bithon on 14/04/2011 11:55:40 no........ ccp just need to run unholy rage twice a month to keep bots under control.... 2 weeks is not enuff time to fully skill for botting in 0.0 nor is it enuff time for mining bots with a hulk
they would have far less lag issues and a hell of a chunk taken out of the isk faucet rather than nerfing havens and sanctums

Banning the bots means people need to mine moar = Those high-sec-status systems suddenly become attractive = moar tears upon loss.

True, but banning the bots which will lead to people actively mining will increase mineral prices, which will increase ship prices... that would be bad for gankonomics.

TBH I think the only way CCP are going to become properly motivated to clean up the bots is if a huge portion of the playerbase stages a mass 'well we're not bloody well playing anymore till you sort it out' thing. And by a huge portion of the playerbase, I mean more player accounts than there are bot accounts. Basic economics would soon plant a boot firmly up CCP's collective arse then

not really cos insurence payouts will go up too
also it would help towards curbing the proliferation of super caps
ever wondwer why the Red alliance hold so much sov? 2 years ago they went bankrupt after the dronelands war... now the hold sov in 3 or 4 regions ........botting paid for it

Somehow, I think the bots will still be here after those leaving the game in protest have left.

Umm.... supply and demand?
if more people are actively mining, more supply is being produced.
the rule of thumb is that more supply and more competition (ie all the minerals no longer belong to bots) means lower prices across the board for everything.
I don't understand how you have come to the exact opposite solution.

The Russians would never resort to botting, ZOMG!!!!! Botting is a incurable disease. People who bot consider the loss of a hulk pilot account to be a business expense. CCP gains more monetary revenue from banning a botter, simply because the botter will be back. Why do you think WoW has mass bans every few months, they know it is a great way to increase revenue. 500,000 people got banned in one day, an I would bet money that within 3-7 days, those 500,000 had new accounts. Does CCP care about its customers, most likely, yes. Face it though, they are a business, first an foremost, an easy economics shows banning = income. There is a cost to catching botters, you have to pay someone to do it, but thats a business expense I would imagine, an in the USA, a business expense is usually a tax right off ... Also, a side note, when WoW sued, an won their claim against Glider, they claimed they were losing millions of dollars because of the botters. I am the gun, the tool of death. Originally by: Ozwald Rens a lot of people claim that if all bots were banned, CCP would earn less
And CCP claims that they don't care. Also, banning accounts of people who most likely will want to keep botting actually makes CCP earn MORE, not less. It's in CCP's best interest to keep banning all accounts they are SURE are botters, and one of their most surefire ways is to also be sure they're involved with RMTers. When botting happens without RMT at the end, it's much more difficult. The problem lies with the "sure" part - they can't risk accidentally banning legitimate players who just LOOK like they might be botting. _

They can still ban a ****load of bots before they come to the part where it is not sure yet if they are bots. And botting is the problem, not RMT.
Also @ OP, never go full ******.

Of course not. It takes a few psychologists, a neurosurgeon, some linguistics experts, a behavioural scientist and a couple of programmers. /rimshot _

The only issue I have with bots is the never-ending rant on bots on the forums. I can play the game perfectly well with or without them. It has gotten so pathetic now, that the hardest PvPers and "tears farmers" openly express having an issue with the uncertainty on the bots' existence. How many are there? Are they all gone? Will they all be gone? Will they all get punished? Is CCP doing all they can do? Is it enough? ...
I would rather have a discussion on PvPers, who need to have the lights out during sex, than another bot thread. --

Bad idear to pay CCP more. It's their server/game and they have to care about problems. It's their job to do it and they get paid for it allready!

You can't compare WoW and EvE. To play WoW you need to buy CD/DVD packs. To play EvE you just need to download the client once to creat as many ACC for free as you want.
