So I'm moving out to 0.0 in a fairly large alliance with lots of blues - I'm wondering if it would be advised not to bring your pimped out ship to do ratting, plexes etc in. Anyone have any experience with this? Just stick to normal BS, not any faction stuffs?
I know ppl always say - don't fly what you can't afford to loose. But this thing is just internet spaceship gold, and it would be sad to leave it in hisec.

What alliance are you joining..?
I joined TEST, and then i flew out there in a nano'd, MWD, rigged and cloaky vigil and 100m in my wallet.
Never looked back.
basically, make sure you have enough money to buy a few ratting ships out there (prices should be similar to Jita), and just take yourself and the cheapest, slipperiest ship you can build.
Don;t take your ships out there, you can always go back for them after you have settled in

Let's just say it's in the north. I'm really not worried about transporting the stuff there, got JBs near hisec. I've lived in NPC 0.0 before and the market was kind of sucky, is it usually like this in player 0.0 aswell?
Anyways, what I was trying to ask in my OP was, more like this - Is it common to get jumped in the middle of the deepest blue space and loose ur 4 billion fitted BS?
Thanks for the answers so far <3

Yes it is. NC is not immune to roving gangs. fit a cloak to every ship you intend to fly out here.
And the market is usually very good for most T1/2 mods, T1 ships and some T2 ships. Rigs are also good, T3 sell orders are pretty empty

Any decent alliance will be able to get stuff shipped in for you. And you will need a nice PVE ship, or else...why are you going there?
If you want PVP, stay in lo-sec. I don't believe in signatures, not even really cool ones like "This signature intentionaly left blank" |

My advice leave something in empire as a fallback.
Take enough money to get started (usually to get a battlecruiser at least to rat...battleship preferred and then a couple pvp ships for HDs and CTAs). Leave everything else in Empire for the moment in case it doesn't work out.
Once your more comfortable with 0.0 space you can move other assets or sell stuff in Empire.

Never put all your assets in one place... Especially if it's a place that can suddenly change hands and leave you without access to your gear. ;)

I second this.

People do bring pimped out ratting ships (almost always Tengus and Machs)and you occasionally get a lol kill mail when someone loses one. Many just rat in T2 fitted BS's, some rat in carriers which can invite trouble. As always watch local, read intel channels, stay aligned to something so you can get out and dock up if you think there will be trouble.
I'd pick something cheap like a BC to start out with and once you've figured out the locals then try with something more expensive. The North can be safer than high sec one day and the next a red infested nightmare or target rich environment for some of us .
North markets can be a bit hit and miss. Some systems have Jita prices + 5% or so, others are a total rip off. LS-JEP springs to mind, fully fitted Hurricanes for 150m for example, a few systems away you have near normal prices. Only problem is availability. I'd certainly get a few ships moved out with you.

Sometimes your faction pimped PvE boat IS your HD boat. PvE is easy enough that I rat in a PvP Mach. Bagged a Cynabal the other day that though he could catch my MWD fitted Mach at before I murdered him.
That said, I can afford to replace it and I know when I can't win and it's time to leave.
