This is the reason the UK isn't on the cutting edge of Information Technology. They can't even perform simple Oracle database management.

Eve runs on Microsoft SQL servers as far as I know.

Who told you it's UK people and who told you it's Oracle?
And what is cutting edge on IT?

Exactly... anyone trying to manage 5000+ records knows that Microsoft SQL Server doesn't cut it. ORACLE is the only way to go.

Well, the server is in London, so it's either UK people or they are managing it via the internet from Iceland, which I find a bit troubling. I don't really know anything about database management, so I could just be talking out of my you know what.

lol, I use Oracle everyday at work and SQL Server at home. The only reason to use Oracle is if you have your own Amazon.com, or some other web site that deals with a 1000s of transactions a second. SQL can not handle that but yes, it can handle more than 5000+ records in a table, lol - you kill me.
Anyway, that's my 2 ISK :)

Oracle's new pricing schemes make it silly to use though. A lot of companies and government institutions are now moving to PostgreSQL.
With the new pricing schemes Oracle will bill you for every query you make to your own databases. Funny that.

When chicks hear that I run MySQL, they immediately rip their clothes off and fling themselves at me. =)

Nice reply Karmic... I do love pushing buttons on people with no sense of humor and obviously spend much of the day in the pub, because they are tired of hearding sheep.

didn't oracle had that "unbreakable" commercial and 30 mins after it aired for the first time oracle was broken?
ah well, at least MSSQL has a decent management tool, somehow oracle guy's can not make them even when they are 3 cd's big(not to mention bugs in there jdbc driver).

MySQL / postgresql - free, and the best
MS-SQL - useless, expensive, needs rebooting every week
Oracle - overpriced in every respect (licence, support)
It looks like CCP bought into a whole load of M$ crap when they could've saved a bunch of money and trouble if they just went MySQL/Linux/PHP for the data/web end. Keep M$ to the app development (VC++) cos that's what they can actually do right.
My 2 pence.

MySQL is cool, but lack maturity in some areas to be a fully featured DB server (stored procedures, triggers, etc..).
Depending your needs, MySQL can be a bit limited, Postgress may be a better choice.
