any character who gets caught botting gets a permanent big red B for banned stamped on his portrait. let social pressure deal with the problem.

We could take it even further, it also should become a permanent red tattoo on their face, so you can see it when WIS gets implemented.
Ok, maybe thats a bit much...

Or, you know, they could just get banned.
Do you really think a botter would care in the slightest about social pressure?

by social pressure, i mean dessie ganks and denial of corporate membership. it could be a category in next year's hulkageddon, macrobreaker: kill the most guys with the mark of shame.
furthermore, it would minimize character sale value. would anyone buy a character with that mark?

Again, if they can put this mark on them, why not just ban them outright? This doesn't do anything at all.

They could also release the private address of each of these awful botters, to a private firm. They would then daub each offenders door, with a red cross of wet paint. That would show them.

the policy is a three strikes you're out thing with the first ban being fourteen days, the second being a bit longer, and the third one is permanent. i don't agree with the system, but i don't think ccp will change it.
this works within that system and allows ingame only heckling and abuse.

How and why would they care, since they are not socially interactive with the character anyways?
Come on, they need to be eliminated, period!

Do you really want all of the botter's eliminated? Who is going to mine the mineral's that are used to build your precious shi's and modules?
Are you going to take the time out of your busy pirate day to idly sit in an asteroid belt to mine? What a lowly profession.
Although they are illegal they do provide a function for New Eden that would otherwise cause the system to crash into a state of being ran by pvp'er's.
When the machine runs down how will the pvp'er's fund their endless war's of ego on their fellow capsuleer's.
Anuiru....
No they need to hear it. So tell all of New Eden how will the pvp'er's fund their wars if their are not botter's constantly mining the roid belts?

I don't know if it's still true or not, but didn't it used to be the case that more minerals entered the market from missionrunners reprocessing loot than from mining, regardless of the bots (on both sides of that)?
Mining is not the only way minerals enter the market. Even so, if the bots are banned, mineral prics might creep up to the point where mining is actually a profitable thing to do, wouldn't that be a good thing for industry people?
Oh, wait, you're defending bots. How many are you running?

macros...run their own corps. Since eve needs a corp for the char, npc would always be an option as well. Tax there...oh well. If botting missions/plexes jsut means less take for the day. Not an omfg tradeoff. I have given hundreds of millions to player corps and alliances that no longer exist or no longer have the space with the stations those taxes helped paid for...grass ain't so green on the player corp side of the house lol.
hulkageddon is about tears and lolz...macros don't cry, they move and start over. They have the money for this (its why they macro...). geddon runners kill everything, won't matter.
people will buy anything. lets say a botter farmed a char who could babysit a mommie ship and was marked wiht the scarlet letter. For the right discounted price I could care less if its marked as a botter, -10 sec status and is -10 all factions in the game. Said mommie sitter will never see the light of empire, their sole function in life would be to get my main out of his gilded cage when not on sc ops when the days comes I can fly a momacita. Getting marked saves me some nice isk...all prior sins forgiven in my eyes.

botters could be contributing to corp taxes so why would they immediatly want to get rid of them out of your corp?
also plenty people can just run there own macro corp./

Actually this would also make it easier for botters to get together... your idea is a double sided sword.
If you are a corp that is botter friendly, such a mark would be like a thieves way of identifying like-minded thieves. Ahh you got the B... welcome brother botter.
For that reason this wouldnt work. Carl Tremura

I wonder about banning the players that are using bots and turning their characters into Sansha's nation? Seems kind of appropriate don't you think?
