Developed primarily for the PC platform and using DX11 features quite extensively and it looks unbelievable considering it's running in game and in real time, with the release date planned for november of this year and taking the next step in destructible environments(wait for the finale)....
I think that dust 514 is screwed considering is aimed at consoles exclusively so it's still restricted to DX9 effects and targets the same twich FPS market, but that's just me....

I saw the clip. Though it looked a blurred and not representative of how crisp it would look at in 1920x1200, the polygon count was much higher as was the complexity of the player models.

I'm looking forward to using 3 screens with my current triple SLI GTX580 setup...5760*1200 resolutions with antialiasing and very wide field of view, in a 64 player multiplayer environment with all hell breaking loose.
Beat that consoles...
I still say CCP is making a mistake restricting dust 514 to consoles exclusively, but it's their money and their game in the end, and they have to compete with the established companies that have a proven track record in FPS games like Dice, ID software, Epic, valve and more...

Just in case anyone is hoping they can play this game on their PC...
YOU NEED TO HAVE A DX11 CAPABLE CARD TO PLAY THIS GAME
Which means:
ATI 5000 series or above
OR
Nvidia 400 series or above
And apparently, this is less than 6% of the current PC market - DICE have got some balls, I'll give them that.
When you look that good, I guess you can do what you want and people will still love you.
Awesome.

HAHA CCP mistake is the simple one of going after the Core fps market in the first place. Instead of doing the common sense thing and developing incarna more then planetary flight then incarna for land bases and then fps on the ground in incarna. Dunno where they getting this crazy company plan from but I do not see how on earth they plan on keeping console players interested in what by release will be a drastically visually dated game. With little Story driven aspect and frankly what I expect to be very ruff around the edges compared to titles it will rival.
There has been a lot made of how the games industry (especially in consoles) is becoming blockbuster or bust. There is no room for a second place FPS. Halo. cod. bf:bc. Resistance. These are the big boys. With bigger budgets than ccp earn in 3 years. Let us not forget that DUST Does not even have a release date yet. BF3 has one. CoD is a sure bet for a similar date. 343 industry probably gonna announce another halo title at E3.
And what have we had from Dust a trailer and some game footage that looks like a mod of BF2142 or planetside. In a, here this is what we would like eve to be like. Well its getting time to Put up or.... well not shuttup cus they aint said jack on it.. Soon TM is dead the industry has no room for SOON tm. And the FPS market even less so. If you don't produce solid marketable material, Create Buzz and hype, Give a release date that has a year mentioned in it. Show cool new innovative features. Then your product wont even make the shelf's these days. I hear by label DUST 514 VAPOUR WEAR. Like it or not. That is what it would be held with in comparison to other games. And for every fanboi who thinks I hate EVE. Nope A. You hate EVE if you support such a terrible company idea from CCP. And B. back to my point EVE players are fast to label STO as fail, OR infinity as Vapour wear. But STO devs have delivered on fix's they have promised. And There are less trailers and visuals of Dust than Infinity so we should be mindfull other companys games we slate before we look at our own.

Yup, but it's about time someone took the first step to move out of the console comes first mentality, as the hardware inside them is seriously outdated by todays standards, with even budget PC's able to run circles around X360 or a PS3, wich were released way back in 2005 and here we are in 2011..
I'm sick and tired of playing the PC version of titles that were developed primarily for consoles as their target market, that's for sure....It causes market stagnation in the long run when everyone wants to play it safe...

Seriously A 5000 series card is under ú30. The game will cost more. And when they say the PC market that takes into account all Units. Not gamers. So work PC, School PC, You get the picture. My nan has a PC with a 5000series card. She checks her email. I built it. 175Bucks. It can run DX11. Btw Linkage and I have had a bit more of a look round and canni see any confirmed reqs yet. So for now I ask where did you get this DX11 req idea from?

It won't be tested to run on anything other than vista or windows 7 for one, wich are the only 2 O/S's for wich DX11 is available....It won't run on XP anymore as it's limited to DX9...
Then there's graphics features within the game that are only supported with DX11, such as tesselation, soft shadows and more..

A features can be turned off or down. Or Just do not appear for certain cards. much like AA X16 in eve does not appear on older GFX cards in some cases. Secondly DX10 can run on Vista. You never said XP you said it was DX11. And my Point was that As far as every one else seems to know its DX10 compatible. And on the XP issue. As you yourself stated it will not be tested on XP. Nothing to say it will not run on XP DX9C as some DX10 games do. (I agree it is unlikely however) But hey. EVE has updated visuals and cut older GFX cards compatibility. Why Should Dice not? Lets wait till they give us the Reqs officially before making any more claims?

DX 10 and a DX10 capable O/S and the first generation of DX10 cards on the market already showed up in 2007....That's already 4 years ago, and as far as DX11 goes, there are plenty of budget and midrange cards that support that just fine too, from both ATI and Nvidia so if a developer intends to launch a game by the end of 2011, there's no point to use DX10 exclusively anymore and go full steam ahead with DX11...
Dice are basically going by that basic rule that killer software will sell hardware when the game is ready to launch to retail...The same thing that Crytek did when they launched the original farcry 1 in 2004, and even more so the first Crysis game was released in 2007...It looked amazing and brought the best hardware down to it's knees to run it, but looked spectacular in the process and gave people a reason to upgrade to better hardware as it became available.
It's called taking a risk and sometimes it pays off in a big way..

It says "primarily", not "only". Your read-fu is weak ;p
If the game was *only* developed for DX11, it would not be possible to run it on consoles. Neither the 360 nor the PS3 technically support any DX11 exclusive feature, and they can only do DX10 features that were inherited from DX9 (the 360 basically runs dx9.0b (long story), the ps3 opengl 2.0).
DX10 hardware will be supported - Not supporting dx9 is already a big risk EA is taking, especially given their goal of "killing CoD". They're not going to allow DICE to go as far as only supporting DX11 hardware, especially when their primary competition can still do DX9.

if your card cant run dx11, its probably too weak for this game anyways.

LOL you dont need a dx11 card you only need "not xp"... The separation between dx11 and 10 are a few functions in the library.
But yes I cant wait for bf3. Ever since bad company 2 came out shooters that dont have near full destructible environments are...just not the same.

My trusty 4 year old Nvidia 8800GTS 512 is still going strong with a 10% overclock. It can run Battlefield Bad Company 2 fine at 1900x1200 on high settings. It is a DX 10 card. But BF3 will force me to finally replace it.

It might run it with DX10 but it won't look the same....For instance if the game makes heavy use of tesselation, wich is a DX11 only feature and can only be enabled when using a GPU that supports it in hardware.
For all we know, the video shown has that feature enabled, so it won't look as good when you're playing it in your system with a DX10 level graphics card..

The new dx11 features dont drastically change graphics...tessalation only allows for added detail on some surface or models.
The other features are they to help improve performance through CPU and GPU...but they are now just added to the function library of DX before say programs had to write their own or call them differently.
Not exactly drastic drastic effects if you look at comparisons.
