I've been following up on teh forumz, and is it just me, or are a lot of people getting into PI? I don't have the sort of foresight that comes with years of playing, but it seems like PI is getting a lot more popular.
Does anyone else get this feeling? What are some possible causes?

Maybe theirs some legit keyboard macros. Only way I'd ever even look at it again. The stuffs absolutely needed though and if t2 is going up like they say, Pos's could be profitable again. For a long time t2 didn't track the added POS costs. I know they are blaming Moon wars but PI really made casual invention unprofitable. Better profits could make PI worthwhile.

Both me and my girl just got into PI. Attempting to extract materials and produce P2 level products. Enjoying it so far.

Yes, you do. Ever tried to set up a factory planet?

Setting up a factory planet results in madness. It's like the UI is intentionally designed to suck û managing an extraction planet is bliss compared to it.
I can only hope that this will be improved upon in the next patch.

Ever set up a moon mining POS? At least PI makes sense when you look at it, the POS management interface take non-intuitive to an art form. ----------------------------------------------- Market help thread, or troll magnet? |

Instead of continuing PI, I opted to get a part time job in a fast food joint. It may be tedious, boring, demeaning, mindless, and feels like I am chained to my station like a galley slave, but I do get a small paycheck every couple of weeks. Whereas with PI I didn't get the paycheck.

CCP, if you are looking at this, one change that would make factory planets (and PI in general) better is an upgrade option to spaceports. Each upgrade would increase their cargo capacity by 5000 units and the costs (isk, power, cpu) would be the same as a warehouse.
Having this same upgrade option to warehouses and command centers would be good too.

Once set up, PI works away in the background making isk for you whilst you do other things. Yes, it needs 10 minutes maintenance each day, but for players who mine a bit, make a bit, trade a bit and run the odd mission, it adds another element to the mix. PI isn't a 'get lots of isk quickly' thing, but it adds a bit more to the daily income.
The other thing worth setting up for 'passive' income is research agents. If you have reasonable standings with a NPC manufacturing corp, starting research projects with their agents and cashing in the RP's to buy datacores every so often is another useful 'background' isk making activity.

PI is great, it does get annoying to update cycles daily but if you set up your accounts you can make some really decent coinage here.
What I do is mass produce rocket fuel. Mission runners eat up T2 missiles left right and center and well rocket fuel cuts back production costs huge for ammo now!
What I do though is... I got 2 accounts on eve already, so both my alts were doing PI, then I thought **** why not pause training for a couple days and train up the NPC alts on those accounts too! I did so, found myself a system with 3 gas planets and 3 storm planets and have all toons operate from one system making my life easier when I need to login and go grab the resources to contract over to my main.
My main character has 3 planets setup with 20+ advanced industry and 2 spaceports, 1 spaceport is for dumping the electrolytes / plasmoids into and the other is the offload of rocket fuel from the advanced labs. Make close to around 3000 rocket fuel per mass production planet setup a day if you got a nice steady flow of resources coming in to match your rocket fuel production needs.
For example 13157 of electrolytes and 13157 of plasmoids fills your spaceport up and runs rocket fuel production for a good 12+ hours depending on how many advanced industry's you can build. So if your able to hold such a process you can make around 50 to 60m a day just from PI. Sucks pausing your mains for a couple days though :)

Just let me select multiple factories at once and set their products/routes at one time, instant PI bliss

I used to spend up to 2 hours every 3 nights making runs in my blockade runner hauling stuff I had to get out of storage. Has that changed any?

I enjoy PI as an alternative to spending a third of a billion isk on POS fuel every month.
I do PI to pay my sub, honestly. No other reason. If I had a free sub, I would do it for the extra isk. But as it is now (and I'm a bit worried when this "free money" will go away) I have planets set up to produce Nano-factories. Half a million isk per factory, making 24 of them a day, that's 12 million isk every day for a month, 12 x 30 is 360 million isk. Which happens to be just shy of a PLEX.
However, it's made the price of blockade runners skyrocket >:(
