I am a returning player willing to train carebear corps in the finer points of PVP. I prefer corps with a current war dec. Feel free to contact me in game.

You may not understand why some like PvP and some do not. Those who like it get "The Rush", a burst of adrenaline that feels good. For others that burst of adrenaline feels bad and is something to to avoided. As this difference in reactions is genetic, no amount of teaching can change it.

Sorry, I will have to disagree with you here... I can't stand it when people try and quantify human behaviour with a simple on/off theory.
I think the main reason people are put off pvp in this game is that there is such a steep learning curve (read cliff).
There is no real way for new people to practice pvp tactics without jumping into a ship and dieing horribly to the first 12 person gate camp you meet.
This could be dealt with by a well written pvp based epic arc for beginners (perhaps using the incursion AI and teaching tactics beyond the basics, such as escaping camps, using ewar etc) and possibly a battlegrounds style practice arena.

im sorry thirdeyebenny but i have to disagreee with your statement.
People who have a bit of sense about them and want to learn pvp can actually learn on singularity where you can no dounbt get into many sc****s and not risk losing and getting down heartned.
Granted it wont be as much fun as tranquility but its a viable solution to those who get put off when they have their first loss or 12

Yeah, the test server is available. But accessible to new players and the less well informed? Not really. Last time I used sisi I had to install a separate copy of the game, which had to be patched separately. It was a ballache to be honest. I understand that the installation process has been improved thesedays. Fair enough.
I would still argue for tools on tranquility to learn pvp basics, particularly if you want to attract new players. Anyway, I think were derailing the thread. Apologies op. |
