Hey, I eas wondering is mining/building ships or ammo worth doing for money? as of right now im mining omber in a rokh. Ive done my math and I can be making close to a mil per load... Ive never built anything so far but got the skills to build any ship short of a cap.. Is it worth doing or would I be making more from just selling the ore?

Yes, even small scale manufacturing may be profitable and the most important - it is not time dependant. You can spend 30mins/day setting up orders and manufacturing queues, and then rest of time mine/mission/pvp etc.
BUT - you need to make a good spreadsheet first, to make sure you are not producing items at loss. Profitability of items varies quite a lot, it's best for you at initial stage to buy and produce off BPCs. Also make sure you have production efficiency 5.
Last week you could build an Abaddon with 10mil/unit profit. Jita materials+sale, BPC price included.

If the only thing you're interested about is adding value to the ore you're mining, then probably it's not worth bothering in most cases. Manufacturing usually adds only a tiny percentage to the total value of materials, and you seldom get the "right" material combination just from mining. If you're serious about manufacturing and wish to see it pay for you, you will HAVE TO buy most of your minerals, not mine it all yourself. Also, like the above player said... spreadsheets. _

Mining and production are two different careers.
You can do both on the same character (I do) but the moment you realize that they are different careers, is the moment your income will increase.
Can you make money doing this? Yes.
Buying local minerals and producing with those minerals is usually more profitable than mining ore and reprocessing your own minerals to use for production. YMMV (Your Math May Vary)

this may be your problem, right now omber is the worst mineral to mine for cash, pyroxeres would double your income straight away.
Also, battleship mining is ok, but do yourself a favour and upgrade toa covetor or hulk

some things sell for crazy profits, most things make a loss
almost everyone who is in MFG has preoduction efficiency skill to 5, so you need to aswell to compete
Then you need to use researched (ME improved) bluprints, or you will not be making a profit if you are trying to sell in the main trade hubs. anything is possible however in less popular systems.
Whilst manufacturing is fun, it takes a serious investment of time and isk to return any sort of worthwhile margin in general, i do know of some things that will make a substantial profit from unresearched BPO's, but do your own research please :P

Here,
I rustled you up a quick spreadsheet that collects its prices form jita (ty Wike!).
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=t5co-basvAudr7p_Z_gQiYA&authkey=CJC_y6AO#gid=10
The some taken to fill a jetcan is static per ore (time it if you like, its all the same) so here is profit per jetcan from jita prices (the refine bit is missing the ARK price atm).
Enjoy and make the most from your mining :-)

If you want to ensure the spreadsheet is up-to-date; then use the evecentral uploader:
http://eve-central.com/home/software.html
and just vist the ores (and maybe mins) page of the market, view them and the util will upload the data from your cache to the XML feed source.
you can copy the spreadsheet from the file menu (you have to be logged in to do this).
Evemail me with problems / questions.

Take a look at BPO's, look under Scripts. Most of those make about 20% to 75% profit in Jita and even more in other areas.
Very simple to make, only like 6k build cost each, so probably perfect for your small operation.
