Edited by: Belock Granly on 04/05/2011 18:37:41 Edited by: Belock Granly on 04/05/2011 18:37:01 I have an alt account that has been banned for macro use.
Funnily enough the account has never used a macro and doesnt even own a mining ship, nor the skills to fly one.
Its an account that is barely even logged in and has been banned.
Response from a GM was it was detected running macros which is nonsense as Ive never used it for anything of the sort.
Cool eh ?
Just shows how great their detection tools are if they are banning innocent accounts.

Could be true. If so, gotta break some eggs to make an omelet.
This isn't the justice system, better to sink a few innocents and get the majority of the guilty than get no innocents and nearly none of the guilty.
That's my opinion.

Would be happy with that if when I raised a petition and pointed out the account had no method of using a macro to any benefit they still didnt lift the ban.
Banned for 6 days now for nothing. Not good.

Not this :)
Id have seen him come online and it has no skills worth using to macro. Just been training it up for combat and has little industrial use and Id notice the bounties if used to kill anything.

I'm bookmarking this thread, if it explodes then maybe CCP will do another one of their 'special exceptions' where they agree to reveal the information behind the ban, and it turns out that the OP is a horrible, horrible liar. I LOVE THOSE THREADS :P
No mining skills, so what? Can you fly an industrial to macro courier missions? Or maybe you're running a market bot. The sky is the limit! There are so many ways to make money in EVE, and about all of them are macro-able.
So what was it?

Eh, it's 6 days. Irritating, I'm sure. But, it's an alt account, right? And even if you get a first strike macro mark on the account, if you never intend to macro again, who cares?
I'll take a 6 day ban and a mark on my account right now, to show my support for the broken eggs stance. My skill queue will run out in about a day as well, so I'll lose 5 days of training. I'll even go for a full 6 days lost.
I'd likely post in your position as well, but the implication that CCP is completely ****ed and going after macro hunters isn't a good idea as a result of a false positive is where things go off the rails, imo.

No cant fly an industrial.
No idea what a market bot is, but no trade skills.
Plus my wallet would show I make no money.
The character is trained for a battlecruiser only and I was training up gunnery skills for PVP use at a later date.
I literally dont use the account for anything other than to log on train, and now again sit in a system if Im getting grief and want some imaginary back up :)
Trust me the account has never used a macro, if it had why would I make a big deal of it ?

Yes its an alt account and the worst thing is a) Its cost me half a months subscription, and b) two weeks training.
The point is though what if they do it again. No I wont use if for macros but then I never did and got banned. Like I said if they admitted it was in error and reinstated it then fine but if they keep making mistakes I could end up losing the account.

The forums aren't the appropriate place to be discussing bans. If you would like some more information about it you should petition and ask for more details.

I don't doubt you my friend, but having been on the forums a long time, these threads pop up, here is how they go:
1. Someone posts trying to drum up some FUD and moral outrage. 2. CCP gets involved and decides to actually post the real reason for the event (In the past we've seen it happen a few times where people get a negative wallet for RMT, and once CCP comes in and says 'Can you explain why a char named 'fwhy444j44j2' sent you 4 billino ISK?' the original poster shuts up. same applies here though.) 3. Everyone laughs, OP claims 'fwhy444j44j2' is their good friend who happens to live in nanking! 4. Post dies as every berates the OP for getting caught and then bringing attention to himself.
I'm not SAYING that you did macro, but I'm certain enough that I'm waiting to come back in a few days and have a good laugh at your expense when CCP pops in to say you've been logged in and running missions for 23/7/365 since your creation date :P

Not having a mining ship is not relevant. There are many bot types: Trading bots, ratting bots, mission bots, PI bots, and so on. Even having a macro that turns on your microwarp every 3 seconds so you can autopilot somewhere faster is a EULA violation. Also any software the messes with the client can be seen as a bot, and is in fact a EULA violation no matter what its doing.
There are people that play in very bot like fashion that may trigger a ban. If this is you, consider changing how you play.
There are also guilty people that claim innocence. If this is you, please stop botting or find another game.
