If it matters, this will be in Sansha space.
How similar are 0.0 anomalies to missions in terms of required tank and range of engagement? Would a fit for anomalies be pretty similar/identical to a mission fit or would they look different in some fashion? (ie less tank more gank, close range weapon vs long range?)

You need more tank and DPS than a lvl 4, rats have higher resists and hit harder. Ideally i think its faster to run them with assisting fighters, only done it in BS or ishtar and its pretty long and boring.

well, the easy anomalies are very easy, the hard anomalies are quite hard.
Ships that can put out lots of dps at range do well by warping in at 70 or 100km, and when rats spawn getting to one-shot-volley the frigates as they approach with zero transversal. There's also plenty of elite cruisers and battleships. The battleships have much lower bounties than versions with the same name found in an asteroid belt.

Anomalies very in difficulty, not only based on which anomaly, but on which race as well. A serpentis haven isn't hard to do with an ishtar or a dominix, but against blood raiders it may be more difficult due to nueting.
Sansha are easy, you can do them with a dominix and sentry drones in about 1/2 an hour solo if you are well skilled and well equipped.
One big difference though is that you are in null sec, so you want some kind of mobility in case you get company from hostiles.
Remember, the anomalies very greatly. Look up the report for the one you want to try as some may only have spawns of 4 BS, where as others can have upwards of 20 at a time.
