hi guys, wondering, what to use, i currently fly a ABADDON and guys saying to use mega pulse lasers II, but i cannot use II only use I, i use Tachyons I at the moment, i also read somebody say not to use the mega pulse unless you can use the II?
any help would be appreciated, im doing lvl 4's now and im finding on the bs's i just dont have the damage, i use 5x tachyon I with navy issue multi freq Large,
but yeah i dont have the damage, i do with them grouped ABOUT 1,500 DMG per shot, so thats like every 10 seconds 1500, some times 2000 if lucky, but usually 1k-1.5k
THANKS!

Frankly I don't care for the Abaddon as a mission ship. I never got the performance out of it that I did the Apoc, because the Apoc gets the range bonus on megapulses to have an optimal close to 25km with multifrequency. Stop me if I'm wrong but that's pretty close to optimal that the Abaddon gets with tachyons (and a whole lot easier to fit.) The fact you're only fitting five of them is setting yourself up for failure no matter how high your skills are.
Tachyons are really best suited to the Paladin and Nightmare if you're doing PvE. In battleship fleet PvP where having a tank is a secondary consideration, tachyons might be better used on T1 battleships.
If you're set on keeping with Amarr battleships for missions, BS level 4 and large energy turrets level 5 are necessary since your damage selection is limited. If your skills are low, I'd suggest training for a Maelstrom. I do more damage in falloff than I did at optimal with the Apoc, and the tank is better too.

Don't use tachs. Use 8x Mega Modulated Energy Beam Is. If you can't fit them, then you don't have the skills to be flying the ship

PvE training in Amarr battleships is really all just a prerequisite towards a Paladin or Nightmare tbh, I've concluded after millions of SPs expended in that area.

For a start don't listen to people who tell you not to bother unless you can use T2. T2 will be more effective but that doesn't mean that the T1 is useless. Secondly you're only using 5 Tachys ATM, is that simply fitting or are you trying to do other things with your remaining highslots? Because if you can get the additional three lasers on there your damage messages will immediately jump from 1-1.5k to 1.8-2.4k.
Of course Tachys are a cast iron ***** to fit so it's likely that you'll have to use a couple of lowslots for Reactor Control Units - which, in turn, hurts your tanking ability (which I guess you're also going to find tough). Megapulse are easier to fit but their range will seem very limited and you'll probably find yourself having to use Microwave or Radio crystals a lot of the time and therefore probably doing less damage than with the current set-up. Megabeams provide a nice compromise for the more inexperienced player, their range is close to that of Tachys but without the pain of fitting them and though their damage is lower they should be better than your current fit.
Alternatively you could look to switch ships, the Apoc's range bonus means that Megapulse are more viable for mission fits and its more forgiving capacitor and weapon capacitor bonus are eminently suited to young characters. It doesn't tank as hard, nor does it do as much damage as an Abaddon but it is certainly worth thinking about. --

Fit your baddon with mega beams. T2 pulse are only good on the apoc (beams often still being better for missioning) and tachyons are only practical on the nightmare and paladin.
You should probably fit something like this, but ofcourse depends on what your fitting skills are:
[Abaddon, Missioning] Capacitor Power Relay II Imperial Navy Large Armor Repairer Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Heat Sink II Heat Sink II
Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II

What? Tech 2 pulse allows you to use pulse on the abaddon and still get 60km-ish range. That's why people suggest you wait for tech 2 pulse before fitting them on an abaddon, and when it surpasses the apoc as a mission boat.

i say mega beams. if im not mistaken the range sucks unless you use scorch but then you're stuck with using only one type of crystal that has some range and damage. at least with beams you have better crystals that tend to not break fast and has better range. It is impossible to pod Chuck Norris. |

Looks like you have a few different problems going on here. Low skills, trying to run missions without a full rack of guns, and grouping all your beams.
Most beams take good skills to use effectively. Fitting problems, cap usage, and gunnery skills for tracking are big areas of concern when trying to use Tachs.
Also using only 5 out of 8 turrets is seriously gimping your damage output too.
Grouping might not be a real issue now with low skills but later on it will be when you 4 shot a target with tachs. With a full 8 rack that would be 4 turrets firing at debris :(
TBH I'd fit a full rack of pulses with an AB to quickly get into range and skill up. Later when you can use T2 properly then maybe you can think about going tachs again.
Sure, using T2 Tachs rock, but only if you have the proper fit and skills to use them effectively. Sounds like you have a ways to go until you can realize their potential.
