Hello.
So this is a bit embarresing. Yesterday i was flying a BS through HiSec and while in a 0.9 system, suddenly some flashy targets appear. They scramble and gank me. i am in a militia but still i had only just logged in. Then i fly a BC through another HiSec and the same thing happened. How can i be ganked in highsec when im flying perfectly civilized? Can wartargets kill me in hisec (not enemy HiSec? I thought i was 'protected'
Thanks

this. militia made for pure pvp in high-sec. you have permanent war-dec from other militia.

Thanks for the fast answers. Would i be safe from 'wartargets' if I join my militiacorp with an alt, without joining the navy/militia?
Im looking to do some highsec mining on a secondary account, thats why!

The only protection in Hi-sec you get is the NPC navy will attack enemy militia members but they only Web and don't scram, If you have a active tank you can take the damage.
If your Alt joins the same corp as you then they will also be in the militia and killable by enemy militia.
Leave your alt in a NPC corp so you can't be war decced

Also be careful of neutral highsec (i.e. systems owned by Concord rather than one of the Empire factions). These systems are essentially neutral, so all 4 militias can enter them without being attacked by the faction navies, and can engage each other at will.

As far as i know same applies to any region not specifically owned by Caldari State, Amarr Empire, Minmatar Republic or Galente Federation. For example Ammatar Mandate or Khanid Kingdom. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |

Okay so what this means is that the safest way for me to HiSec mine while being in a militia corp is by doing it deep into faction HiSec territory?

It's very simple - "being fairly safe" and "being in Militia" are mutually exclusive. Even deep in "your" territory you are vulnerable, and many militia fleets roam through enemy space specifically looking for wartargets who think they are safe and are taking no precautions. If it's an alt and if it's only used for mining there is very little reason to be in a militia corp unless you are using it for corp ops when you have a fleet to protect you, but everything you have said suggests you are flying solo.

When you don't feel like being ganked and want to fly around with good implants, quit the militia and wait until the next downtime to play safe. Do this when you want to mission, or trade/build/mine/haul/etc.
When you want to PVP or do FW missions, rejoin the militia and jump clone back to something with cheap implants. You will be right back where you left off in the militia after the next downtime and can kill and be killed as often as you want.
It won't count against you.

If you want to mine use and alt in and npc corp or get out of militia. Other militias have neutral scouts all over your high sec looking for people such as yourself to gank.
You join militia to PvP.

When we interview a new recruit we make it clear that if your in the militia NO WHERE will be safe.
If you don't want your alt ganked then don't leave him/her in militia, there is no reason to keep a mining character in a PVP organisation.

Don't worry. Mining even in FW is perfectly safe. You just have to pick a system that looks kind of like nobody really visits very often. It's a very well-known principle known as "security through obscurity".
