Stabbers and Omens in open melee combat to win a Heavy Assault Cruiser!
Roll up roll up! For the latest Jericho Fraction open Melee combat event in Pureblind. The "Tribal War". This is a free for all timed and last man(or woman) standing contest of cunning and courage (and clever loadouts) to be held in X-7O system in Pureblind on the evening of friday the 18th. Registration starts at 23:00 hours eve time and the contest will be starting as soon after midnight as we can organise it.
The rules are simple. The competitors will gather within 100 klicks of the King of the Hill beacon (marked "king of the hill") and at least 20 klicks from each other. All will be ganged with the Referee. When the Referee is satisfied that everyone is in position a count down will be given and the combat will commerce. The object is to be the last Cruiser standing after 15 mins of combat and within 10 klicks of the beacon marked "king of the hill". If there is only one Ship alive its a clear win. If there is only one Ship within 10 klicks of the beacon at the 15min mark its a clear win too. If there are two or more Ships within the 10 klick range they must continue to fight until only one remains in the winning zone. If a further 10 minutes passes without conclusion (ie if they are all mega tanks and toothless) then the event will be halted and the surviving Ship with the most kill mails from the event will be declared the winner.
Pod-killing is not encouraged and pod-kills do not count towards victory. We ask competitors to be sportsmanlike and civil. Judges reserve the right to disqualify competitors for disruptive or abusive behaviour.
Warping out of the combat zone is counted as a retreat and surrender and the competitor will not be eligable to win even if they return (and may be shot to bits by the judges if they interfere with other competitors)
Any loadout is acceptable and any combination of modules. Only factory-issue standard Omen and Stabber hulls are eligable for entrance to this event.
***
Background:
Harking back to the darkest days of resistance and sacrifice for the Minmatar freedom fighters: this is a contest of nimble and fragile vessels piloted with courage and daring against the mighty armour and power systems of the Amarr Empire and the relentless slashing energy of super accurate laser weaponry!
Be a brave fighter in a makeshift vessel armed with projectiles and missiles and the dream of freedom alone to protect your life and faith!
Or step into the shoes of the Amarr Empire's ancient military order and marvel at the gleaming clockwork precision of polished systems and deadly beam arrays.
Who will win? It may be written in the stars but impossible for mortal minds to so easily predict, and in the chaos of open melee only pilot skill, surpassing vision and talent to take main chance and dominate the field will bring one pilot to victory and the grand prize of a shining new Heavy Assault Cruiser fresh from the Jericho Fraction corporate shipyards escrowed directly to the winner.
And now, reflect:
Thunder c-racks the hull There is no peace between stars From the pod rebirth -Suuji Praath
eternal struggle they dance among the starlight a silent hellstorm -Knuck
Quick Rabit Dodge left Turtle Hawk Zaps Fur, Burnt Singe Expanding Gas Cloud -Ly'sol
Amen, let the competition begin!

I got bored watching splinterz competitions...to small scale. So we upped the stakes to make things alittle more interesting and worth the money.

Am I looking at a combatant? One who will risk his life for an a chance for riches and fame? <Smiles at him> Fight like you live Nero. It would be good to show these people what a competant Caldari can do.

Throne Worlds Amarr Prime Emperor Family Station
The ever flashing screens of the comms hub relayed recent information from across the entirety of the Empire. Attended by plentiful crews of techs and officers, these screens were always watched and any relevant information noted down to serve as possible intel for the PIE Fleet.
Gaius' attention was held by another set of screens, much fewer in number, and less attended. These covered official news sources regarding the Caldari and Gallente, even the rebel Matari.
One of these screens were frozen, as the Grand Inquisitor studied it intently.
"Looks like another set of games and gallentean decadence without regard of life, My Lord" Gaius' aide spat derisively, obviously finding the contest quite out of taste.
A slight smile gave off the Grand Inquisitors amusement.
"Indeed Phobos. See to it that an Omen hull is delivered to my techs within the day." ----------------------------------------------

It had been a long tie since his Stabber had seen any real combat. And it was due for retirement since long past the Cursed Souls war. What better way to bow out? Either victorious or a burning wreck, the CRS Cyotee was going to bow out well. ---------------------------------

Most excellent!
Seems as though the odds to win are almost even. May very well be a one on one fight.
So who do you think will win?
The Imposing Amarr Empirium?
Or
The Defient Matari Fighters?

Please, I'm a civilized man. I'd never lower myself to work suitable for droids and, apparently, the CVA. However, if I was going to 'merely' spectate, I suppose there'd be some... eh, wagering involved..? ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Don't turn this into a Matari vs Amarr competition. This is an open melee tourney! I know I'll be firing on fellow omens as soon as I get the chance. Only one winner, no room for picking sides.

In the interest of competion, I'm looking forward to the opportunity of fighting you for the first time. I am a gentleman in competion, all you may fear lose is your ship, your pod is quite safe in this one case alone. ---------------------------------

I suppose, but coming after me alone may well hurt your chances. You'll have many more than I to worry about.

On that note we'd have to agree. Tactically stupid.

I have always had a thing for the Omen...my ship stands ready now, in X-70. I urge those of you who will wish to attend to plant your ship there early, as this kind of thing will draw large pirate forces out of the woodwork close to the event time.
You can usually sneak a fast frigate past them of course, and if you are in need of instajumps, you may contact me.

For the last combat event Jericho made Osprey hulls available at a fair price at the Sisters of Eve Sanctuary School in X-70, hopefully we can do that again. Kalast is right, Pureblind can be prone to pirate camping and Force of Evil [FOE] alliance scored several kills against competitors on the way to the "Osprey Outrage" preventing their entrance to the contest.
The way to avoid this is to get your ship to the location earlier, or to buy one there and just move the components in a fast frigate with good navigation comp settings *grins*. Also remember there is a longer but safer route to X-7O via Nonni and Saronen that avoids the EC-8ER choke point. Though these pirate empires are a nuisance they are easily avoided by clever pilots and shouldn't interrupt your enjoyment of the event.
Grrrr just wish I could fight! But I've stuck to Gallente and Caldari ships on general principles. But good luck all!
As an aside, I'd love to add a write up to the Jericho Fraction website and it would be great if competitors would use this thread to tell me about their ship names, history, and perhaps even a commemorative Haiku to remember the brave vessels about to go into formal and ritualised combat.
We've got a week of build up, lets have some fun in this thread!

I have lost many ships, but I always had the Arbiter to fall back on.
Vessel: TAC Arbiter Name at Launch: ARS Relentless Originally commisioned as apart of the Amarria Auxilia, the Arbiter has spent much of it's life an auxiliary mining vessel. Later it saw use as a training cruiser, as Aeternus Crusade pilots did thier first training battles.
It has been seen action in enemy fleet operations twice, flying support for CVA Anti-terrorist operations while in AmAx. Twice in the second engagement, the Arbiter engaged live fire with the enemy.
Command: Commander Gruin and his bridge crew have seen little turnover in thier assignments aboard the Arbiter. Thier expertise is now needed on more frontline-combat worthy craft, and they would like to send the old bird to a proper end as they move on with thier careers.
Commanded by: Admiral Graelyn
Notable moments: After the loss of the Apoc "ARS Fist of Amarr" against pirates in Deliverance, the Arbiter became the flagship, and a mobile Command center was set up aboard. When the Aquilus Regno Squadron split from Amarria Auxilia, the Aeternus Crusade was born. This corporation was officially forged on the bridge of the TAC Arbiter.
How about that?

Leaning back in his plush armchair before his desk Icarus rubbed his jaw and smiled crookedly. It was a long haul from his base of operations to X-7o, but it sounded like a very interesting event.
Though a young pilot and ultimately fated to meet swift capsule ejection from the wreck of his stabber, he knew that it would also be great fun.
Leaning forward, he tabbed up his schedule. Mission status through that period: null. A quick tap on the article placed it in his schedule cue for that day.
See you there, with luck.

A pair of silver eyes silently watches twin pulsing minerII lasers beams tirelessly assulting a asteroid roughtly eight meters away. A boring mining deployment indeed, but desperatly needed as isk and ammunition have ran to critical levels. On the command deck of his mammoth-class industrial ship the "Hammer" its captain sits in his command chair as intern cadets busy themselves at their posts. A favor honored for a old professor and friend back at RMS in the Ammold system to give these young matari a gentle taste of starship life. As if answering his call for some excitment as he turns his attention to a screen on his arm rest, randomly scanning news vid channels broadcasted from Matar,a commercial catches is eye as he rubs his chin and smirks. A thought pops in his head as the name "Solitare" a stabber-class cruiser that was his pride and joy hovering back in its dock. "interesting..." His only thought that sliped into his mind as he glances back up at the view screen to watch the asteroid assult once more, with new found excitment as he falls into a daydream of taking his cruiser into battle, guns and missles blazing,to pass the time.

Ah thats the spirit citizen! Ill have a seat reserved for you on the observation ship. Best food in Pure Blind will be offered practically free of charge. So you now can wine and dine with the very highest of standards, and while you mingle with other guests. Well, now that the linkage is fixed, I see that it is a very good video. The music selection rox, and the image quality is quite sharp... the only grief I have is that it's zoomed in far too close to the 'spreys, I can't really see the overall picture of combat. Some very nice detonations going on there, tho.
Good vid.
