We have 4 hulks and two orcas. Is this a good set up? Or in what situation will be ? Are orcas bonuses stack or not? Thanx in advance.

Deja vu: 4 Hulks & Orca
Bonuses from boosters do not stack: you get the strongest one.
You can also put more than mining gang links on an Orca, though they don't get a ship bonus. I often use a Siege Warfare: Shield Harmonizing link on my hisec Orca, for example.
Using 2 Orcas is sometimes convenient when you have one boost and the other haul to the nearest station, but I personally just use a DST to haul (and later pick it up with a freighter). Gang links don't work while in warp, or docked.

So around 15 hours of doing this will get you the PLEXes for all those accounts, right?
+1 for doing something entirely over the top

And the initial investment and effort to actually get all the skills bought, characters trained, implants, hulks, rorquals, modules, a spot safe enough to actually mine and have more ABC ore than 2 cycles for each hulk and organising logistical network to get the ore/minerals safely to market.
After aforementioned and the 15 hours 12x40 mil/hour = 480 mil/hour isn't that bad method to fund whatever you need.

I wonder how many PCs he will need though. 14 accounts will need some hardware...

I only see one PC and something that looks like a KVM switch in that picture. That must be some pretty serious hardware though, and all clients are likely set to lowest graphics settings and low resolution.

Any sane person valuing his time would have long hired a Chinese sweatshop to do this grinding for him. I bet it would be cheaper in the end, too. But I wager this is the "because I can" effect at work, so I seriously applaud him for it.

Correct 1 computer and 1 Matrox switch for the Triple screen setup as it allows for less stress on the video cards.

Only way orca bonuses would stack is if one is using links different from the other say one running mining links one running shield also need one in squad command one in wing for that to work and would be alot cheaper just putting booster in a myrm and using lows all cpu upgrades mids 4 command processors and can fit 5 links

1 Orca
For newbs there is no point
Have the orca in the belt Hulks dump into it One dedicated alt/hauler guy to empty from Orca.
Later on you can have 2nd Orca to be the hauler but that is needed only after you get to 8 + hulks Pod |

Inclined to agree here, you have about the same qty of mining ships as we do. We tend to run with one Orca, and the ship we have with the skills at IV can hold approx 170k give or take in one go. We found having two Orcas netted a lower overall yield, and the inconvenience of docking the ship to unload was noticable, but ultimately the additional hulk / mack on sight evened the books out.
I like the idea of using a second orca to boost fleet defenses and act as as 2nd jetcan and station runner... that is a nice touch to mitigate some opportunistic attempts at suicide ganks.. In high sec, a member of the fleet sits right out with a Guardian incase of such attacks, but 99.9% of the time acts as a deterrant rather than actively involved in RRs.
Some great posts here though, food for thought.

Edited by: Lady Go Diveher on 13/05/2011 10:32:43 The "best set up for mining" is to find idiots managing 10 or more accounts at once, apparently () and go to town on their asses.
You have to decide WHY you're mining before you do it.
For ISK? Go elsewhere
For fun? Kudos to you for liking it, but I'd suggest beating yourself around the head with a kipper.
