Edited by: Force Kon on 11/05/2011 05:12:08 I feel most of the community dont understand why CCP or any other game developer dont come to the forums and take all the "good" advice and feedback and put it straight into the game.
As players we want everything to be made "better" and by better i mean making stuff easier and more convenient for us which in theory would make the game more enjoyable but it comes at a cost. Imagine if salvaging was removed and wrecks just automatically contained all the loot, that would be great but at the same time a huge amount of depth, balance and industry has been removed/devastated by that action. Just because its more convenient doesnt mean its in the best interest of the game.
I used to play wow (flaming begins) and imo the biggest downfall of the game was submitting to tons of minor improvements which made the game easier and convenient to the player which has trivialized the game and dumbed down the players. Eve still has a huge amount of complexity and flexibility to it. Im sure everyone has known a new player that has done something silly like fit lasers on a rifter but does this mean each races ships should be restricted to using their own races preferred weapon types? Sure in the majority of cases that wouldnt cause any problems and would certainly help with the learning curve but there are many ships out there where you can go cross race on weapons very effectively.
Before you run to the forums screaming about injustice or demanding fixes to make the game fun again, think on the balance and long term issues. I commonly see 2 conflicting ideas on the forum, the first being "all the old players have quit". First off, i dont see why anyone would want to balance a game to keep people playing forever, surely thats a bad thing. People naturally get bored of things and want to move on, so why try keep balance the game around the idea of constantly wanting to keep old things fresh to people that have done it a million times and make them want to do it a million more?
The next thing is "how can new players compete with older players?". The easy answer is they cant. If you instantly want to join a game with this level of depth, you cant just expect to jump straight in at the deep end. Eve is a sandbox but there is still a built in progression in terms of learning and skill training, as soon as you start to make minor changes to that it all falls apart. In every game, experience in terms of previous playtime and knowledge of the game should always give you an advantage, if you dont like that then go play a game of "high card wins" or something where random chance is the only factor.
"If you dont like the rules, change the game" MMOs suffer from regular patches, what i mean by that is the community sees that its a regular occurrence and developers are willing to listen and change the game according to feedback. There is a lot of good advice on the forum and im sure the game has benefited greatly from it but people need to learn they dont know whats good for them. Something which seems like a good idea to you might infact destroy the game.
So please, as a regular forum reader im asking, before you start throwing in your 2 cents have a think about what your saying try consider the repercussions of what your proposing.
[Edit]:I dont understand why ******ed was censored, its not rude or offensive and was used in a proper manner. I have replaced it anyway in-case unnecessary censorship changed the context.

Well said. I believe one the the things that ties vets to the game is that they feel they've built it over time (despite CCP) and they want to maintain some ownership. Obviously they get irritated with changes that don't suit them. Unfortunately new players need to be able to grow with the game too and new content/fixes need to keep coming to bring them into the fold. I'm sure there's plenty of scope to cater for new and old alike. |

lol... and your input was so needed...
To Op...
The forums are a vocal minority, and i don't think CCP takes the forums as seriously as other game companies would. Take a look at some of the recent changes that drew hundreds of post against implementation, yet were brought live anyways...
CCP does listen, but seem to have their own vision of what this game is and will become.

ITT trying to summarize random posting. About your grievances. Of course there are going to be the common themes that gets beating to death, that is the hallmark of any mmo's forum activity.
Yes it's a lot of whine, and the nerf, buff infinite loop, with the vets vs the noobs debate.
Yes people will come to the forum and blurt out random bs and post things that shouldn't been put in print. You ask people to think before they post.? On the interwebs?
Asking for general temperance on the eve fourms, I don't even..
like the toils of Sisyphus.
