From time to time i like to do some exploration for a change. I have run Serpentis Vigil many times, some of the escalated to the escalation senario that is describe in the forums. Not a hard plex to do, not an easy one too...
But this time it was different. The escalation i got send me in a place with a few cruisers and BCs and a singe frigate, called Serpentis Madcat, not a faction spawn, 60.000 bounty on it, didn't drop any loot (empty wreck), and very hard to kill with the usual Scourge missiles. Unfortunatelly i didn't have precision missiles, took some time to kill it, and it was boosting shield and armor like mad...
After that frigate died, some more Cruisers and BCs spawned... No big problem. But then... The party started... A huge spawn appeared right next to me (or maybe i was in the wrong place, can't tell for sure...). Six Guardian Angels Elite Frigates scrambled me making sure i wasn't going anywhere. Another six frigates Webbed me to almost zero velocity. And a swarm of fancy named HACs and Battleships evaporated my tengu in a few seconds. The incoming damage was only comperable to the damage done by Concord.LOL... That was FAST. I wish there was a slow motion button to enjoy it at least.
I only had time to gettison my cargo and come back to pick it up. A weird thing is that the Guardian Angels Elite Frigates were showing with a white cross on the overview, not red as all other rats. I am looking to find this escalation again, and see if i can find a way to finish it, see what the drop is...
Has anyone else come accross this variation of Serpentis Vigil? What did you do ppl, how did you make it in one piece?
Involved parties:
Name: COSMOS Gallente Commodore / Serpentis (laid the final blow) Damage Done: 24430

If there is no faction rat at the gate before this encounter, the madcat will trigger the escalation. You are supposed to get out before that wave starts, that's the story of the escalation.. Killing the madcat group before their reinforcements arrive

Ahaha... so i was supposed to GTFO of that place before they appeared? lol.. I knew there was something i missed... So, no one has ever managed to kill that spawn? Is it unkillable?

No no, it's perfectly doable - you just need something a little more powerful than your Cobra Mk III, Commander Jameson -------------- Fix the game's last broken weapon system - support if you care!

FYI: Madcats are on the Jet-Set_Hooligans expedition, which originates in Serpentis Watch.

Yes, I have been atomized by this fleet as well. As I recall the scramming frigates travel about 3k/sec so you can't distance tank unless you are really fast.
However the massive blob only seems to spawn if you kill the support ships (it's the 5th wave iirc) and when I last did it it consisted of:
5 Guardian Angel Elite, 10 Guardian Angel Harpoon, 10 Guardian Angel Lietenant, 10 Guardian Angel Obliterator
Normally, for me, it's escalated on killing the Shadow Serpentis Protector in the first room.
"It seems like you have the choices of staying here and getting murdered by the Angel babysitters, or you could try to jet out and see if the lock you have on the rest of the brats is any good... "
No idea what happens if you kill that fleet...

Going back to the initial subject (Wasn't ororque a great place to trade?), i got the escalation again. A few more things to add for those that might want to know, and others that might want to add or comment...
The Serpentis Madcat frigate, i couldn't kill it using the precision missiles. The simple scourge missiles did the job, which means, it propably has a bigger signature radious than a usual frigate, so it takes more damage when hit by scourge missiles and not by the precision variation.
The Madcat followed me for many kilomaters away ( i used MWD early this time). Then turned around and headed back to the initial spawn point. The funny thing is it was hitting me with placing excellent hit from a distance more than 170 kilometers away... i want that frigate.
I didn't lose my tengu this time. But i guess it's only because i left...
