Transforming Safe House tells the zombie hordes to bring it
I wonder how long it actually could withstand a zombie horde, the article lacks some information. But a fun read none the less, but i would have built it differently.. lyret dedreen

Zombie's need food to survive, therefor the best way to stop them is a Global Nuclear Holocaust.

Edited by: Culmen on 14/05/2011 20:42:34 Did the owner really say it was zombie protection?
Cause it looks like it'll protect against a whole host of man made and natural disasters. All of which are far more likely.
Also the garage door is a significant security weakness. It probably won't take long for a zombie horde/angry mob/hit squad to bash through. Also I'm noticing a distinct lack of firing ports to defend it actively. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

I just wonder how much use it is in a power outage.. or if something gets "stuck" on those rails...
Also, it doesn't say how long it takes to go into lockdown.. :P

I would have built it differently, highwalls surrounding the house is a good first defense. Also it did'nt say but i hope the house can be powerd by some wind or solar power. Otherwise one is rather toast with out power, and then it's a tomb rather than a safe house.. lyret dedreen

The house up top is only one small part of it.
It has a small fusion reactor (experimental) buried underground for power. Along with a 3 million gallon cistern, 6325 square foot underground bunker which includes a greenhouse, full NBC protection, filter, decontamination, and medical facilities. Food enough to last ~3 years even without the greenhouse. A large Electrolysis Water Splitter, to make breathable oxygen, with hydrogen fuel as a byproduct (it is a completely closed circuit). And a suborbital liquid fuel rocket escape system (3 person), ~3100 mile range.

Never going to happen. Not with the Walking Dead filming its 2nd season, which is a great show btw. And rumors of a World War Z movie in preproduction (*ahm* getting pitched to a select few investors).

why the fascination in zombies, films tv shows and novels
Don't get me wrong i like the great zombie movies , especially the romero films and i loved world war Z book
Sometimes i suspect it has to do with being american, guns and the urge to use those guns ________________________________________ Minmatar are like jedi knights, we use ductape as our force, it has a darkside and a sticky side

It's about the faceless horde and being able to take an axe to it. The end of this world and possibly the beginning of another where every man count again. The zombie apocalypse is just a more entertaining scenario than any other end of the world variety.
Being american you're at the frontline of capitalist rationalization and feeling redundant. That more than anything is a factor. Then there are those among us who just like gore and the silly.
