Hi,
a question to CS pilots. I want to support my fleet with a command ship. Fleet bonus + secondary damage dealer. Active flown booster T3 is to expensive, alt-flown afk T3 is no option for us.
Since we could do both, shield or armor, I'd have two options: Damnation or Vulture. I cannot and don't want to fly Minmatar or Gallente.
I know the Damnation can field a massive armor buffer. Especially after slave implants. With HMs it can contribute some damage - it has even free med slots for some EW.
How is the Vulture in comparison? Should it be actice tanked using Crystals? Or how would be a shield buffer? Would the passive recharge compensate the lack of pure EHP (compared to the Damnation)?
Thanks! -

A couple of comments: - The Vulture has 5 launcher slots... may as well use HML as rails on it, IMO. - The Vulture is too slow for most shield gangs... if that's not a problem its a pretty decent ship. - I'd buffer fit the Vulture - remember that you get pretty decent peak recharge out of a massive shield buffer. IIRC, 180K EHP and 500 DPs tanked is possible (it's been a while since I looked at the EFT on my Vulture). - The Damnation is generally better. IMO.

speaking of alt flown afk t3s - if the "unscannable" gets removed from the game and you don't have a pos in the system - what would happen to the poor t3 alts? MWD + straight line ?

It really depends on what types of ships make up the rest of your gang. If they're primarily shield tanked, then Vulture. If armor, then Damnation. If you can only train/afford one of the two right now, then set your fleets up around the ship you want to train. Don't worry about crystals for Vulture. It can sport a huge passive tank, although I admit I've never looked at an active tank for it. But, if your fleets are bigger than 4-6, and you're going to fighting more than 4-6, an active tank won't be able to handle the damage anyway. As far as weapons go for either ship, they are a third priority. Fit the command links you want, then max the tank out, then fit weapons with whatever fitting space is left over. I like missiles on the Vulture as well...
