Ok, I just got my Manticore. I got it fit according to so many's suggestions and I flew off to the nearest null sec system. I have dreams of great glory (ok, ok... just don't pop my bubble with all the nay saying).
I set a bm at 400km off the gate, cloaked, aligned to the gate and warped to 50km. I then flew in (cloaked of course) and set my second bm at 39km (for my bombs). I then flew in a straight line from the first two bm's to 111km off the other side of the gate and set my 3rd bm (for torps if I get a target on that side to far away for bombs). I then flew out to 400km again in a straight line with the last three bm's and set my 4th bm.
Then I aligned and warped to 100km off the only station in the system. About half way there, i clicked and got a random "mid space" bm. I then turned around and warped to that bm and flew 500km off the route between the gate and the station (to NOT have a straight path into a bubble). I deleted the original "random" bm so I wouldn't accidently warp to it and end up in a bubble.
To be continued...

Now, my "method of insanity"...
When I jump into the null sec system (from low sec system), I immediatly align, cloak, warp to the 1st bm (400km off gate). As soon as I'm there, I mentally prepare myself and check to make sure everything is set up right and I warp the #2 bm (39km off gate). I then sit there cloaked and wait.
What has happened so far?
I was alone in system. A pilot jumps into system and is sitting on the gate. He's in a tengu. He begins to chat with me in local. The whole while, I'm sitting watching him and he's flown back to the gate. He's almost straight ahead of me. He's 36km from me. I'm twitching to launch my bomb. He then asks me what I'm flying and I tell him I'm in a drake. (my ship has been renamed "LinChow's Drake"). He challenges me to a little 1v1 and promises me that we will not either of us pop the other.
To be continued because the screen keeps jumping up and down when I type this far down the page.

I ask him what he's flying (as if I didn't already know) and I play hard to get. We chat for a few more seconds and I "give in" to some friendly 1v1 (knowing I'm being played for a sucker).
He says I should come to the gate and we will "test each others abilities".
I then uncloak, launch bomb, come up to speed and warp to bm #3 when the bomb smashes him.
I get to #3 bm (111km off the other side of the gate), which I'm cloaked again by this time and spin the camera around to see him warping away towards the station.
I go ahead and warp to #4 bm and then back to #1 bm to start the cycle all over again after giving him time to cool off.
He is ****ed!!!
That was some serious smack talk in local and it seems that he wasn't prepared for that bomb and didn't have his shields active and it took him way into armor.
If only I had had another friend or two with me in their SB's, we would have splashed a tengu on the gate.
Will post more adventures as they come along...

just another day in the life of a stealth bomber, don't get greedy or overconfident. A crippled Tengu, deep into Armor can still smash your little doggie bag if it locks you. ---

From one bomber pilot to another, I'd like to make the polite suggestion that bombs are, by and large, a complete waste of your time.
I do things just a little bit differently than you, I camp jump bridges (damn you CCP giving me half as many targets with your "nerf").
What I would suggest is either A) camp jump bridges like myself or B) carry a point on your bomber. I'm not entirely sure what bomber you're using or how it is fit, but I would suggest an MSE/AB/24km point fit on your bomber. If indeed you really took that tengu to armor with your bombing run, you probably could have easily finished it off with a handful of torps.
I haven't solo'd a t3 in my bomber yet, but I have almost killed many before they made it to shields/had friends **** me ()
I have, however, solo'd a nightmare, cruisers, BCs, and have almost killed many BS's on jump bridges, and probably dozens of t1/t2 haulers (one of them dropped ~3bil in loot).
In general, MSE's give you a nice amount of buffer, and if your bomb took out his ehp that quickly, you would have had a nice kill had you stuck around with torps.
Check my losses for bomber fits for all races(I fly them all). I do not fit bomb launchers often.

Lord's Servant-
Thanks for the advice and imput. I'm completely new to the SB. I fly a Manticore. I set those bookmarks really just to get a feel for the how, why and whats of a SB with bombs. I don't plan on using bombs alot because of the costs but I wanted to see what they looked like and did.
Another happened today but not much to tell...
A Navitas and a Burst came through the gate and for some reason decided to turn and head back for the gate. I figure they where going to jump back out of the system because they forgot something but I never had the chance to really find out. I dropped a bomb on their parade and got two for the price of one. That was fun.
Going to check into some different fits. (I'm not sure about all the abbreviations when mentioning specific modules).

Lol nice, we do that to stop people getting in to our WH, we set up a cloacked scout outside with some bombers inside the WH, as soon as contact (Usually a scout) We launch all bombs except for 1 which launched a few seconds after to get both ship and pod. Even a BS would have a hard time withstanding that :)

If he was active tanked, little buffer, Hardeners off.... the only thing that would have saved him from worse is his small sig.

if this guy survives the first torp volley and turns his tank on, i think your bomber is toast. Personally I wouldn't engage solo and shoot torps at a tengu within 30km just on the off chance the guy is asleep at the wheel. That said, it would have been an epic kill.

Even if his hardeners were off, his resists, especially kinetic, would still be high enough to soak up the majority of the damage. Combine that with the small sig and he's not into armor.

There is a chance he was sitting still with MWD on. (now that would be stupid to do, but it happens...)

It seems that some Tengu pilots on here are offended by my post... sad that they live in a fantasy world where they actually believe their ship is almighty.
Anyway...
I've decided that camping the gate just 1 jump into 0.0 space isn't enough.
I've moved 15 jumps into 0.0 and found an "instructor".
We are refitting the ship to make it more usefull and he is teaching me the basics first.
I have dscan lessons today. I didn't realize just how much you can do with the dscan.

Im guessing your using Internet Explorer. Either update ie and set compatability mode or set compatability from tools, compatability view.

A bomb hit on an armor tanked Cane won't even put it into armor and you're telling me that a single bomb put a Tengu "deep" into armor?

OP said "way into armor" not "deep into armor". OP's statement could be parsed as either "way into the targets armor", or "way into the targets total shield/armor/hull buffer into the armor". Also you are assuming OP was fitting the "correct" bomb. Personally I often fit missiles targeted at resist holes, not what my ship has bonuses for.
Learn to read and think before you go tell people they are telling stories.
P.S. Back of napkins calc says that an electron bomb would put this theoretical Tengu a few hundred points into armor. |

1st i'd like to say "nice job" on making a tengu pilot crap himself
2nd dont listen to the nc. guy cause they all suck at bombing (why he most likely said bombs are a waste of time)
3rd a little tactic that might be some help in the future for that little added punch. when you decloak target their ship and launch 1 volly of torps, do a 3 count then launch your bomb. if timed right your torp will hit just before your bomb and give a bit more dmg. warp as soon as your torp hits. if you warp before the torps hit then they never will cause you need to be on grid for them to hit. a good way to practice this is to try it on a gsc in null.
as for some people who say to fit a point on the sb. well that is something that depends on how comfortable you feel trying to tackle in a glass cannon and would suggest you get real familiar with your sb before tackling with it.
bombers are 99% timing and target selection 1% luck

This is true. Most fights that I know of, if a SB is targeted*, it's dead.
