Not sure if anyone has discussed this yet, but if I were a mad scientist in eve, i would totally do this:
Weaponized Nanites
Nothing new in the realm of science fiction. In this case I could imagine a nanite frenzy bomb in which bombs disperse nanites which slowly eat away the armor of ships. Depending on the proximity to the center of the explosion, the target would be exposed to varying concentrations of hostile nanites which would cause various rates of deterioration of armor. I don't think this should be a lethal module, I think the nanites should feed only on armor, unless there were maybe multiple kinds of nanites? Not sure here... input would be appreciated.
Weaponized Tractor Beam
Tractor beams can pull stuff, this may be a little OP, but i was thinking that a powerful tractor beam would not only cause deceleration but could possibly cause a pulling effect, the amount of movement from one to another would depend on which ship is heavier. e.g. a ship with a lot of mass like a battleship would not be pulled towards a frig, the opposite would be true. I don't think these beams would have a very long range, and also I think these beams would also be possible to break (in terms of their attraction force) and would be expensive to use energy wise. They would also require a high power slot imo. It wouldn't disrupt warp but may affect warping mechanics due to the fact the two ships are now linked in terms of velocity and movement direction.
Area Attraction (like a tractor beam that works in all directions)
This deployable probe or perhaps bomb would have the effect of creating a strong point of attraction to which other ships become attracted to. Kind of like a black whole that decays quickly, but it doesn't kill the ship it just attracts it with some amount of force depending on speed of ship and proximity to the center of the effect. Whatever causes this effect should be expensive and be deployed from a high slot module. This stuff wouldn't prevent warp but it would change the vector of velocity and also affect velocity in general, which may make it difficult to warp.
Weaponized Remote Repair / Shield Transfer(or should i say disrepair)
Well it would basically be the same as a nanite repair beam but it would have the opposite effect, it would slowly unrepair the ship in question, obviously this would work only for armor or shield, and would require a high slot. I could imagine this being a fairly high energy and expensive module which not sure why anyone would use it other than to troll people, because you can always shoot them. But may be interesting nonetheless, especially if the armor or shield was actually being transferred to the person using the module. |

1) love it, but I'm a little biased there
2) might be OP, or mihgt be bad for the server with the influencing of a ships vectors...
3) if 2 is a server issue, this would be a server nightmare...
4) Seems a little... odd. Not sure what it is but something about this one puts me off.
Just my quick thoughts on it. |

Thank you those are good thoughts. I do think the vector calculations regarding momentum may be a bit intense. I think this may be too much for our current technology. But it may be kid of fun if it were possible. My main proposition on this post however is the weaponized nanites... I certainly think the weaponized repair in which you disrepair someone and repair yourself would be much like a nosferatu but instead of working on the cap it would work on the armor. It's certainly a weird thing, I have no idea what it would do to fights and how people would use them. But the use of such a thing would be considered a weapon, and it would also be cap intensive, worse than repair. |
