Ha ha, true, but I think he means he want to undock too :-)
The answer I think is a Charon, I could be wrong though, I have never had a frieghter pilot. But I am pretty certain it is the Caldari one. -Landon |

Edited by: Esu Nahalas on 18/05/2011 15:06:12 I was being a smartass. You can park a freighter in a station, and the Caldari version has the most baseline capacity (I think). Then you can consider things like rigs and expanders to make it really, really slow.

You're wrong. It's the Rorqual.

I would like to purchase one of your Caldari freighters, the one with Low slots and rig slots.
Thank you.

Holy cow. I didn't know that freighters have none of those, and I'm a carebear with 62 million SP.

In which case, the biggest cargo vessel would be an ORCA. However, ORCA's are rather expensive, so you probably want to looks at an Iteron V, or perhaps one of the deep space transports like a Bustard for example.

...do you actually make any money doing that, compared to what you'd make by just going and running the next combat mission?

Confirmed, the Charon has more capacity then any other freighter....i know this because I fly one :)
The obelisk, is a little more popular though. It has a little less capacity, but has faster align times

Nope, Iteron V still packs more than any T2 indy, even when both are max-rigged (and at a lower price, too). Your spreadsheet confirms it

Difference is marginal and boils down to your existing skills. (Indy 5 ain't that easy to train.) -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Don't forget the Mammoth. Its T1, needs industrial 4, so its faster to train for, and can take in a full jet can.
Also a freighter may not be able to scoop a jet can, but it can interact with a PI customs office.

There is also the question of using ammo manufacturing to "compress" minerals to save space. You then transport them in a faster ship than a freighter then reprocess the ammo back into your minerals at the other end.

Huge fan of the Mammoth. The Iteron V has more cargo room but the Mammoth is faster to train and as someone previously said, it can swallow a jet can...and honestly, that's a pretty good milestone. More than that is always good of course, but once you're that far anything else is icing on the cake. They're also cheap.
ALSO are you using the cargo container trick? If you're hauling Ore or anything with very small units, you can put Giant Secure Containers (the ones with 3900 capacity...but only 3000 volume!) into your cargobay assembled, and get another few thousand m3 storage out of it.

When you jetcan mining, you have to pick a can as fast as possible. Wasting time to fill each GSC is an unaffordable luxury. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Err, what? You dou realize that the T2 industrials require racial Industrial to 5? Not to mention that the Transport Ship skill requires Industry level 5?
Besides, there's a 100m price difference between an Iteron V and a DSP. Furthermore, if you're fitting a Transport Ship (BR or DSP, doesn't matter) for maximum cargo space, you're doing something seriously wrong.
