How big is the patch for tomorrow?
Can CCP give us a rough size?

I would say minimal. Most of it should be server-side. All that really changes client-side is BPC icons and some bits of text, plus probably some other tweak to exe/bulk files and whatnot. So, my guess, somewhere around 15-30 MB ? _

I'm guessing a bit bigger than 30mb. Much bigger, but we'll know soon enough! What's the matter Miilla, you capped out for the month?

That's a good idea, perhaps CCP should schedule patch deployments for say, near the end of the month for those with caps.

yeah, the whole world should do things specifically to accommodate your scummy ISP heres an idea, flex your consumer muscle and switch to an ISP without caps ------------------------------------------------ There is a theory which states that if anyone discovers just exactly what the universe is for and why we are here, that it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. My folks bought some land in Jamaica, they had no phone service in the area, and it would cost a ton of cash and years to get lines strung up to the house.
know what they did? they started collecting computers from the local university where they live in the states. every time they went to JA they brought computers with them and donated them to the local schools (air jamaica even flew the machines in cargo for free)
before long it occurred to the local government that while the computers were great to have, the internet was the place to be. So the local government started stringing phone service into the area so the students could get the most out of the newly donated computers
shortly thereafter service made it up the mountain to my folks house.
I guess the point is the good lawd helps those who help themselves and sitting on your mountain bemoaning your data caps will do nothing to give you service that's at least on par with the cap-free service they have in Pakistan ------------------------------------------------ There is a theory which states that if anyone discovers just exactly what the universe is for and why we are here, that it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. how about you quit the contract with your current ISP and just dont get a new one ?
surely it would make the forums a better place and also help the ppl that have a cap since they dont have to waste traffic on the crap you are posting ... just an idea

Most ISPs I've been with the "end of the month" depends on when you signed up (ie for me it is the 23rd of every month). Maybe different where you are.

Edited by: Mspaine on 19/05/2011 12:36:17 Sorry to kill you're hopes of a small patch - I believe they are putting Incarna content in.
When the server first came back up - it asked me if i wanted to download the patch
It was aprox 2.2gig.
I said no - as im at work on USB wireless - so theres on point.
Remoted into my home PC - started up eve - From then on in it wouldent bring up the download option - just incompatable version.
So yes............. 2.2ish gig.... joy...

You DO NOT attempt to update LONG BEFORE the patch actually goes live. You need to wait for the proper patch to go up on the CDN.
You were probably prompted to do a full client download, and the fun part is, it's probably still the exact same client you already had. Basically, after you finish the huge download... you'll be exactly where you started before the download _

I love when the patch is unapplyable to current version if eve online. So the work around is wait 2 hours for the fu game to download... Which in the long run is the same unpatched game. :D

Not sure why you need 2.2 gigs unless you are patching from a realy old build or down loading dualitys current state. The big batch will be next month after they change the entire client side code at the end of the month, so CQ can be launched.

The version control is kind of fishy sometimes. I have gotten to download the full client a time or two...
Luckily that is not a major problem to me since I sit on a a connection where the full client takes about 4-5 minutes to download.

Only when you try to download the patch before the servers go live with the official new patch and the new patch file goes up on the CDN. I never had any problems, but I also never attempted to download a patch before servers went up. _

When i first heard about a cap to the internet i thought well why don't we bring back slavery as well, i mean it's not as if anyone would mind.
A cap to internet traffic is almost illegal in sense, if they can't afford to be delivering internet to everyone i don't see why they should make a company which offers to send you a little bit of internet.
Also with the digital TV taking over terrestrial airwaves freeing up all this ghz frequencies, which in short means they can send wireles internet for miles & miles now, internet should be uncapped everywhere.
Miles & miles i tells ya

Slightly off topic, but man, did I pick a bad time to reactivate my account for a 5 day trial or what! Gonna be 2am local time when the servers are back up, and a work function tomorrow night
Looking through the patch notes,, some interesting changes coming up, esp the agent standings. At least I get some time to pick where to throw my refunded SP now |
