I applaud CCP's recent trend of making eve easier to play, and to that point I have a few suggestions on how they can expand on their current path of making eve more friendly for the masses.
CAREBEARING is far too complicated. Instead of veldspar, scordite, etc.. we should just have 3 flavors of roids and minerals... hi sec ore, low sec ore, and null sec ore. have each type of ore refine to just 1 type of corresponding mineral. make ammo from hi sec minerals, weapons from low sec, and ships from null sec minerals. The current manufacturing system is OBVIOUSLY too complex and must be made "more fun" for new players. Blueprints should be free of course, after all people would just make copies and put them up on the intarweb for their friends to download anyways. This removes the need for BPC's of course, as well. totally unrealistic gameplay here guys. --- you know, kinda like the SCHEMATICS for PI... virtually(totally?) free and automatically there! went over well right? go with it!
Also get rid of all the transport/hauler ships, and just put teleporters in stations. Noone wants to get their goodies blown up! that's not fun! let people safely teleport their stuff wherever they want! Make it free because having stuff where you want it is good, makes the game more fun! plus less transport ships = less gate camping and we want more 2000 ship fleet battles, anything less is simply not worthy of pvp in eve.
COMBAT should change as well. fitting ships is just fundamentally too hard. new players are often flying about in poorly fitted ships, which results in losses which taints their initial opinion of eve. To simplify this remove mid slots and low slots from the game, replace MWD's and AB's with a hardwired TURBO BOOST that comes on every ship. Also, get rid of shields, armor, and hull, and just give each ship HITPOINTS, and give each ship an automatic rate of REGENERATION for those hitpoints. EWAR? blech, scramming just forces people to fight when they don't want to, and jamming simply ruins someones day. get rid of those too... Drones? dump those, it's just not fair that some ships have vulnerable dps and others don't......and because that would help lag...just like when you dumped mines.
SKILLS? -- OMG their soooo complicated. Dump all the current skills and give re-allocatable skillpoints. Re-name all the skills with an easier system to understand. something like this perhaps:
COMBAT I
COMBAT II
COMBAT III
COMBAT IV
COMBAT V
CAREBEAR I
CAREBEAR II
CAREBEAR III
CAREBEAR IV
CAREBEAR V
then once those skills are all maxed, let folks sell their leftover skillpoints to npc stations for a nice passive isk income once they've MASTERED eve. Make it so that all the skills can be trained fully in about 4 weeks. No more than 6 weeks for the love of all that's holy.
Just think how fun eve would be if you never died unless you wanted to and only fought when you wanted to, and always had good stuff on hand, for cheap, and you could fit a ship in seconds without having to learn a darn thing! so many more people would play, and you'd make much more money irl ccp.
I know you're already on the path, and I should just be patient, but I just get so excited thinking about the future, it's hard for me to wait for all these glorious changes to be implemented. gogo CCP, keep on truckin!

If SWG is any example, making a game easier to play does not in any way bring in new players or improve the long term health of a game, in fact the opposite would be true....

OP can very easily go back to WoW
EVE is hard. That's by design. With other people, and a little bit of brain you can compensate for that in fun and enticing ways. Yes, there's no such thing as the manual, but that is what makes the puzzle that engages.

I would even call this a satire as he actualy is critising and having a point in what he is writing. Satires were very common in the age of enlightment as writers often set there life at risk by directly critising the state, and therefor they had a more sublime approach by hiding their messgae behind humor.

if you were gifted at macro economics, military strategy and were a logistics and distribution wizard whilst possessed of the kind of intuitive reflexes and adaptability under pressure required to 'win' eve - you'd probably have a 100k+ a year job and a life not measuring success (or whining about that) in a pretend mmo.

I love EVE because it is so complex, If I wanted to play with idiots I would play one of the easier child friendly MMO's.
It's what makes EVE unique the fact that you dont have a "Win" button when you get to level 80 and some scrub who's been playing for 2 weeks can kill an even experienced player in a rifter.
My problem lies in the fact that they are trying to dumb it down to attract scrubs and kids to earn more isk.
If you don't understand EVE don't blame the makers for making it so complex blame your parents for giving you pond-life genes.
I don't understand everything in EVE by a long way but what I do is learn it first by reading and visiting websites fan sites eve guides etc. People should try this it helps I assure you.
