any comment on the slowness of epic proportions?
Everyone seems to be hitting it at once, which is what is causing the extreme load times, sadly.
Ok, so can everyone else please stop doing the survey so I can finish, I'm super important. |

Edited by: InnerDrive on 20/05/2011 00:00:33 Edited by: InnerDrive on 19/05/2011 23:56:24 I still think its a scam and im not going to fill it in.
If its legit or not i dont care.
Even if only because i think that this really is not the way we shoud be contacted by CCP to fill in or click on anything.
Next time some hacker sends a phishing email the easely fooled will be fooled for sure because of this kinda stuff looking like something a hacker woud send. And normaly we never get anything remotely like it from CCP.
If you want to bring something to the community and ask us to fill in a survey , ask it on www.eveonline.com trough a devblog or in the news section, but not tru email.
Please stop sending us these mails ccp if you are your going to get people hacked.

Can I suggest in future that the email be made to look like the other official CCP emails such as the newsletter rather than something that some phisher cooked up to steal our account details?

I never really complain about ccp and think the generally do a good job but this thing was a mess. Sent about 40 minutes with it and then shut it off. If you want me to spend a hour and half letting you get free marketing informations from my brain you had better offer me something.

The site is back up again and running smoothly. The questions seem to be worded different as well. I'm interested to see the results.

OK, CCP said the email is legit, I have received this mail too but I am getting suspicious that my copy of the email may be a phishing attempt. If CCP could offer a way of letting us know the email we have received is legit it would be much appreciated.
Why do I think mine is fake?
Well the link to the survey on mine shows "http://EVEOnline-survey-2011.quest..." (Truncated to prevent clicking to phishing site) however hovering mouse over link shows me its actually going to send me to "http://links.mail.eveonline.com/ctt?kn=1&m=366339..." (again truncated to prevent clicking to phishing site).
If this is the legit email, why have CCP disguised the link to the survey?

I filled out the survey. Took 30 seconds per page to load. Glad I finished it though. Looks like everyone is giving up on it. Now my suggestions are the only ones that are going to be submitted. Welcome to the dawn of a new day for Indy. |

The link I got in the mail doesn't work though, not even when copypasted into browser. http://EVEOnline-survey-2011.questionpro.com
edit: I also noticed the redirection, however it still doesn't work..

CCP: Next time, stagger the invite mails you send out over a few days.
Perhaps more importantly: this thing happens every time CCP sends out a survey ù GD gets swamped with "is this legit" threads.
Could CCP at some point take the time to consider that they're managing a game and a community where a fair amount of paranoia is a very real and very necessary in-game, meta-game and out-of-game trait to have?
The next time, make a sticky thread first. Then send out the survey emails, and include a link to said thread.
Communication and coordination at its finest ù it would save everyone a bit of grief.
Agreed. Looks like someone from CCP didn't think this through.. I mean even I think sometimes! It would be better to send an INGAME mail.

I too did not waste my time filling out this "survey", in fact it was marked as "SPAM" and was dutifully rejected. CCP,I think in order to put the community at ease you really need to think through ever doing something like this again by posting something ahead of time so that way people will know it's real or legit. In this day and time with so much that can happen when one opens their mail and click on embedded links its no telling what kind of keyloggers, trojans, viruses that we may get infected with, and take my advise, THINK before you hit send again.
Thank you.

The survey works much better today. Now you need a survey about the survey. Some advice for the future:
1. Have something official on this site letting people know it's coming. EVE has taught us all to trust no one and believe everything is a scam. And you've helped reinforce that. Your normally pretty forthcoming, so if you don't warn us it's coming we have to assume up front it's a scam.
2. If the people hosting can't take the load, then stagger those email invites.

One of the beasic questions when making is a survey is "what facts do I want to get from it and does my survey provide those facts?
I couldn't really indicate anywhere that i find most of EVE's content not really challenging even though they ask later if it's important for you ..
Oh well ..

Originally by: Nuala Reece Also, another vote here for the pointlessness (or at least poor wording) of some questions adding to the frustration - how much do I agree with the statement that Eve 'is realistic'? Hard to judge, I'd say - I'm not sure what stage interstellar spacecraft technology has reached in the US but here in Europe I'd have to say that a game about immortal humans sitting inside pods of goo controlling spaceships with their minds in order to wage vast interstellar wars is edging on the side of fantasy as opposed to realism.
lol, I would have argued that EVE is far from realistic as the world & technology is way too similar to contemporary earth.
EVE Online is set about 21,300 years from now and in the backstory mankind has gone through roughly 10,000 years of Dark Ages losing nearly all technology and social structure in the process. Yet after 6,000 years of progression, 8,000 years of dark ages and 7,000 years of rebuilding the whole culture is still roughly the same as AD 2,000 - heck, even religious customs, ethnicities and languages have transferred seamlessly & without much change.
As a point of comparison: we just have to go back 5,500 - 6,000 years from now to arrive at a common ancestor for all indo-european languages. Agriculture started only about 13,000 years ago in Mesopotamia / 9,000 years ago in Europe.
