How is it possible that my drake can out tank and deal better DPS then my tengu?
Is my tengu fit crap or is the drake a superior sleeper hunting machine?
Not only can I tank better in a drake I can fit all 7 launchers and still have room for a 91k+ tank.

Because it does. AFAIK to use a Tengu in PVE you have to speed tank (which the drake can't do).
The drakes tank is ridiculous for a BC, let alone compared to a T3 cruiser. However EFT says my best Tengu fit has about 100-150 DPS over a DPS Drake fit. Not to forget the extra 30km+ of range.
If you thought a Tengu would just be a straight upgrade over a Drake you were mistaken.
P.S. I looked into it and decided to spend the training time on logistics instead. Also that is what you are probably missing, from what I know people running sleepers with Tengus are bringing logis. If you run without logis the Drake is probably better.

This was a test run on singularity, no support troops or alts.
It must be the covert sub system, when I run missions the tengu deals better damage then drake to NPC lv4 rats because I'm not using the covert sub.

Seriously you had the covert and not accelerated ejection bay? The bay is like 250 DPS for my EFT fit. You really thought you would get a good tank, good dps, and covert ops capacity in a single build?

Ok I see where I went wrong. But even when I have much better DPS with my tengu the tank is about 1/2 as good in terms of HP, however the resistance is higher. How can I tell which one is better via EFT???
on tengu my resistance is EM/Therm/Kin/EXP 77 / 92 / 89 / 81
vs
drake EM/Therm/Kin/EXP 74 / 78 / 75 / 79
However the drake HP is 103,161 while tengu is 51,551
however tengu is much faster and it has a lower signature so technically it should be better no?

I'm not sure what the best way to get the figures are in EFT, but most of your tank in your Tengu comes from your afterburner, and your shield booster merely supplements that.

the difference tengu:drake is in sig radius and speed
EFT won't show how those changes affect incoming damage and tankability

I find that the AB is kind of useless against sleepers, they can tackle me even at 500m/s

Edited by: theRaptor on 22/05/2011 11:10:47 That is the issue with EFT, it only tells you raw stats. You then need to translate that into an estimation of combat effectiveness via experience (eg factor in stuff like speed tanking, how the difference in signature size translates into less incoming DPS etc).
The issue in tank size isn't an issue when you run with logis which is what people who love the Tengu for sleepers seem to do.
P.S. You "speed tank" by orbiting a can/wreck. In other words you get your transverse high enough to seriously effect turrets (velocity will drop enemy missile effectiveness but you don't need to worry about orbiting for that).

As someone who runs sleepers in C3's all the time for a year now, I can promise you that the tengu will out perform the drake in all aspects. It doesn't even require any fancy gear to do so, nor will you have to speed-tank.
