Well, its been happening for a while now but I guess its official.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/119449-EA-Turns-Its-Back-on-Single-Player-Games
Not sure if anyone cares, but I decided to post for those who didn't already know.
TL;DR Electronic Arts no longer develops any games as single-player experiences. |

Well, they did say Battlefield 4 was being made and I'm apparently stupid so I'll be getting it. Me too, but I'll probably play it for free and see if it is even worth it. I also hope they pack all the DLC into an expansion like they used to. Unless they do that I wont be buying the DLC. One can only hope they don't ***** out all the content in the form of DLC's like battlefield 3. But its a fools dream.
I just don't get where it's all coming from and why people put up with it. I remember they used to release new maps in Battlefield 1942 for free in patches, and now you have to pay for it. You used to be able to host your own internet games right off your PC, but they took it away. The older battlefield games used to have a good modding community expanding on the game and keeping it alive, but that's not possible anymore. I don't understand, maybe its just gotten easier to herd the sheep. |

People put up with it because these damn kids today don't know what a good game is

Ok, now lets hope EA doesn't get a hold of any of our favourite singleplayer franchises. The few that a left, that is. |

Better to focus on one or the other... Lots of multiplayer games have anemic singleplayer experiences that were probably a waste of time anyway.

I just hope Dead Space 3 is okay. I swear, if they screw that one up. They better make peace with whomever they pray to because I'm praying to Joe Pesci. Joe is pretty useful with a bat. Stick around. I'm full of bad ideas. |

I can't remember the last time I purchased a game by EA, and after reading that article I don't think that will change anytime soon. I will always remember the time I spent playing such EA classics as Skate or Die, A Bard's Tale, and Kings of the Beach.
And folks wonder why I prefer my 8bit/16bit consoles to most modern games. "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigues of supporting it." - Thomas Paine |

I look great in skinny jeans, but that's because I spend 2 hours a day at the gym and I do it 6 days a week.
Watched every season of Biggest Loser and it done scared me right into the gym "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. Well, you're not alone, if it's any consolation.
Games were good then, because they had to be.
I trust I don't need to explain why?

I dunno, wasn't ET the worst game ever made? "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. EA's nuts! Seems like every week some EA connected spokes person does some public thing about how f2p is teh second coming. I guess when you embrace it, you gotta spam the hell out of the internet to convince everyone to play your lousy games. Ode to the days of Archon, though. I actually bought that at Mervyns (US department store) back in the day, it was in the front window lol. Yes, that Mervyns. Also bought ZORK I, II & III there as well as Hitch hikers guide etc. Archon was pretty good though, a high fantasy action spin on chess. Oh well, just so you know, EA is the harbinger of death. They helped to kill the RPG genre some years back for a time. Basically same thing they are doing now to mmo's, cashing in on the same ideas over and over just like everyone else - until everyone throws their DVD's in the trash and go play wii games or something. |

Well I think what happened was alot of the executives at EA were lobotomized by space aliens from a dystopian empire in another galaxy.
Edit: ****, I forgot I was just posting a news article. Oh well. |
