This is not lag, this is fleet lag Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of facts. |

A 10 year clinical study, currently in its 8th year, is investigating the ability of a community of test subjects to adapt their behavior when presented with persistent negative consequences. Subjects in this study play a space ship game where the most obvious path to victory is to amass as many space ships in a single fleet as possible in order to overwhelm the enemy fleet. Subjects who attempt to amass fleets of space ships beyond a certain size threshold encounter a negative consequence, i.e., the game stops working, often leading to the loss of their space ship.
Whether the test community adapts or simply complains about the fairness of the test's parameters will have far reaching implications in our scientific understanding of community dynamics. If you would like to be a participant in this study, go to www.eveonline.com and register for a trial account.
