ive technically had eve since 2007, played it on and off throughout the years. wish i wouldve just kept going haha, since i just keep coming back. but basically, where i stand now is 25 mil skillpoints, mostly focused towards caldari mission running (drake, missiles, etc). off the top of my head, 6 mil in missiles, 1.5 gunnery, and the rest spread out mostly among core skills for tanking and other pve equips.
im really interested in joining a sov corp/alliance in a combat role. as a character who is almost exclusively focused on combat skills, i would have to have some PvP credentials. im really lost where to start as far as getting a decent killboard rolling going. i know the basics of pvp spec ships, ie how to lock down different enemy specs, but really dont know what class of ship is optimum for starting solo pvp, let alone where to hunt. all of my friends have quit eve so i dont really have anyone to roll with in a gang. do you guys have any pointers?
thanks

Grab a cheap frigate (like Rifter) or "cheap" assault ship (like Wolf) and head out into the great unknown. Many say solo pvp is dead, but that's what I did when I started my pvp character. Small scale roams are more fun imo, so I'd find a corp that specializes in that. You can have much fun in both low sec and null with that kind of roams, as long as you are prepared to die. A lot. Because you will.
If you go null - you will eventually need to learn how to survive those gate camps with bubbles.

hmmm, so you have a bit of a mix with what you want to do. IF you want to get in to a sov holding alliance, then you really don't need to go for solo pvp experience. You need to know how to follow orders and you need to find an alliance that could use another drake pilot. There are tons and it won't be hard to start up.
The reason I say this is because atm you are going to have a hard time soloing with those skills. When learning to solo pvp frigates are the way to go. There are a lot of mechanics that you need to get comfortable with, and cheap losses make that easier on your wallet. With missile and presumeable shield skills you would want something like a Merlin or a kessie, Also, teh AF's in caldari are pretty hawt atm. However, I doubt you have high frigate/small gun skills.
So, if you want to get into a sov holder, just start looking, they won't care that you aren't experienced (most likely). If you want solo pvp, try low sec or null in a frigate and get to learning -------------------------------------------------
Don't debate with morons. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. |

okay, let me refocus then... do most corps really need pve salvagers/mission runners/etc? is it a consistent source of income compared to industry? i could definitely do that until i get ready pvp ready

Being PvP ready is a state of mind. Absolutely nothing is holding you back except a will to go out and blow up and be blown up (more of the later at first).
So do not wait. Grab a T1 frig of choice and go hunt. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |
