Hi there,
I am pretty new and in a pretty new beginners Corp, 1 month in the game and already been declared war upon twice!
This means for a whole week i am forced to not play EvE or live in fear of leaving the station.
The whole idea of declaring war on Corporations is great and i love the idea, but even in Real life there are consequences. Paying 2 million to declare war on a corporation is a little cheap don't you think? 2 billion would be more like it, big corporations do have the cash and it would stop people for declaring war over and over just because it is so easy to do without consequence.
Maybe 2 Billion is to much maybe it is not. I don't know. What i do know something needs to be done. I am quitting the corp and will play by myself i am still in the progress of learning the game have 1.7 mill SP and suddenly people with XX MIL SP wanna pod me while i mine/mission so i can get the hang of the game?
So in short. Yes war is a nice feature. Let it have bigger consequences.
Discuss, no trolling. i would love to know how the people of EvE think about this.

Its your own fault for not leaving the station.
Either kill off those declaring war on you or find another game.

Maybe i should have added "Constructive feed back"
I am not here to fight with the "power hungry" i wanna blow everything up, how am i suppose to defend myself against tech 2 ships while i fly in a iteron and min in a retriever?
Please humor me how am i 1 month old suppose to fight my way and win a war?
Simple quit the corp and play by myself. week or whatever later rejoin the corp and carry on.. this is a dumb idea.
Why should i be Forced to go to war with superior corps because it costs 2mil isk?
Make it more expensive, if you declare war and the other corp has mutual agreement its free anyway.
Telling me to go play another game, you are pure genius man.

I'm so sorry that the big bad meanies in Eve Online: A Bad, Bad Why Are You Still Playing This Game decided to war dec you and then kill your ships.
No really, I am.
Really.

Grow up up will ya?
Firstly nowhere am i trying to get rid of the declare war thing, it is a great thing and a great mechanic in game.
I do however find that is is a bit to easy to declare war. Declaring war looses Value and the principle of declaring war. Having it much more costly would not just make it "bigger" deal, but would stop people from generalizing declaring war.
Now i am sure you will make some snotty comment back again because you a little emotional **** that needs to have a say, so go ahead.
I do however would like someone else to give some constructive discussion.

Trinity,
Wardecs are a fact of life in Eve and that is NOT going to change. Your only recourse is to deal with it. That may sound pretty harsh but it is the fact.
I stumbled across this guide while looking for some information on surviving wardecs... lotta good ideas in there. Suggest you read it as well as peruse the forums for information on what other small corps have done to get through this inevitable baptism that all small corps must endure.
BTW, treat it as an opportunity to learn and have fun and it won't s*ck so bad :)
Regards,
MJ

OK then, a bit more constructive:
1) As suggested, you could try to fight back. You might even learn a thing or two and have some fun.
2) You could leave the corp. NPC corps don't get wardecced. Leave a placeholder char in the corp, open a private chatchannel for your corpmates and keep on mining or doing missions. Stuff might be a little more complicated to do (no corphangar), but at least you can play the game and wait untill the deccing corp gets bored.
3) Join a corp that can actually defend itself. Create your own corp when you and your friends are able to do so on your own. It's privilege you have to earn and fight for every day.

There are a ton of PVE players that agree with your concerns regarding this issue. At present PVE players either play another game, possibly play an alt, or station trade. Usually though, it's players not logging into the game and playing something different. I for one, play Modern Warfare Black Ops, Starcraft, or Crysis during the dec.

Thank you for the feedback,
Yes i understand war is part of EvE life, but does it really have to be so simple? They might as well make it free!
That is the part that does not make sense to me. I guess the best advice for me is to get to a corp that are capable of defending, winning or loosing to me does not matter, i just don't want to feel like a little fish in a pond with sharks circling me.
i would join the fun if i had a corp that has my back, as i said even if we loose. flying around in a corp where there is sometimes 3 people online if we are lucky and being ganked by another corp with tons of players is not really my understanding of fun.
If you want to wage war against a corp i can see how fun this can be... but is it fun to wage war left right and center for pretty much free and picking on new people...
argh the logic makes no sense to me!
In Any case, people playing EvE does not seem to care about this fact, this might just be something to get use to.
thanks for the explanations, unlike unmentioned people.

In my opinion it can be solved by sort of ranking system to corps, like meta level. A cost will rise if you declare war on a corp with lower rank, and possibly decrease for higher rank. Armor shatters; Raven`s shadow obscures my sight; Capsule cracks. - Khanid Death Poem. |

It costs 2mil per corp or 100mil per alliance.
Get in an alliance and it'll happen less often (other than ZEROphanage, who wardecs everyone).

That would be 50 mil according to this Source: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/War_Declaration
Is probably the most constructive feedback you have given today.

Edited by: flummox on 25/05/2011 16:34:40 stay in a NPC corp like the other whimps of the game.
in my opinion, you should get charged 2billion a month to stay in a NPC corp. NPC corps ruin the game, are a lame exploit, and are a true sign of weakness both on the player and on CCP...
lemme edit this:
there should be a time limit as to how long you can stay in the NPC corp. say, 3 months of character or a certain amount of playtime. after that, you either choose to make/join a real corp, or go into a gigantic unemployed "corp", where you are not protected by CONCORD, gate guns, etc.

If ur that scared, leave the corp while the wardec is active, u can still fly with ur friends who left the corp, once wadec is inactive join back up.
A small suggestion is: even though your gonna do the hauling thing start skilling in combat for defensive reasons. Get up to AFs at minimum with t2 tanking and t2 weapons with some supporting skills in ur weapon system. Then proceed to cruisers and battlecruisers and get yourself t2 weapons in that.
Your going to need to defend yourself in EVE. Thats a fact. And later on when youve grown tired of eating veldspar if you have some decent combat skills u can join a nullsec corp and can mine the ABCs, Rat, and participate in some fleet ops.

Wanted to add: EVE isnt about *SPS MAKE ME GOD!*. There are characters who have 152m SP, I have 35m SP and I can still kill them. Choose a specialty and you wont need 30m SPs to be good at it. Becoming a great AF pilot requires very little SP.
If u fly Caldari u can make a great Drake pilot within a month and a half. Minmatar u can make a great Hurricane pilot in similar time. Gallente you can make a decent Thorax pilot faster then that. And Amarr you can make a devestating Harbinger pilot in 2 months of time. All the while mining your veldspar and scordite while you wait.
When I started the game I mined in a Rokh and fought in a Drake and Moa. My Rokh could mine similar ore amounts as a low SP hulk pilot. I have since abandoned mining in favor of real money making oppurtunities, but thats a different story.

First, the quicker you learn to handle wardecs, the more you'll enjoy your game.
Secondly, it's time for you to start making associations with older, more experienced players. A bunch of new players starting a corp is commendable, but EvE has no pity or remorse for the weak. Get you some strong friends.
Thirdly, keep to yourself and trust nobody. Don't talk in local to strangers, don't accept fleet invites ... hell, pretty much keep your mouth shut unless you know what your talking about in ANY channel. And get rid of any 'funny' bio's you might have, etc. Come off as a tart or a fruit, and you'll also come off as a target. And there are plenty of players wanting targets.
And finally, this is troll bait.
