People have been saying this for half a decade!!! STFU! Your epeen problem isn't going to be fixed with some mythical 'internet spaceship' update STFU! It's been half a decade! Do you understand what I'm saying! There's no point in delaying it your epeen and your spaceship are going to remain dysfunctional until you die! STFU!
Why the rage? You really that eager for space barbies? Disgruntled SecondLife player?
And why do you want me to shut-up? You actually think Incarna development has anything to do with what the EvE community wants? It is solely about WoD.

Why did you name yourself 'the raptor' , why did you spend time designing your WWE action figure portrait?
Do you care about your character?
Do you realize this game is about your character and not just your ship?
Do you understand that people are able to seperate themselves from their space ship and might want to do things with their character?
Do you comprehend you aren't the only one who plays thisgame, that there are traders, industrialists ect. ect. who spend a lot of time in stations?
Do you get that it's not harmful in anyway to walk around? And that your ******ed fixation on 'internet spaceship' tells me you should try walking around irl and realise it isn't all that bad?

Edited by: Dimitri Fukoyama on 26/05/2011 10:51:34 Seriously what a bunch of whiners. Do you think it takes six months to develop what is arguably the nicest 3d sci-fi graphics ive seen? The only thing i have to cry about is i still dont understand CCP wanting to separate PC players from Dust. Since the first day i played eve, i always thought this is cool, but i wish the game was a bit more like the old school game starflight, where planets have more personality and you can actually land on them and explore them. CCP is the only company right now that i can think of that still cares about making MMOs with depth and its mostly the reason why they are still getting my money, even though i feel eve is not that fun for me sometimes.
Them letting people walk around is good for the game if they attract more people to it and the game can live on longer, and CCP can continue to improve the game in the way some vets want to (AKA not water it down). Im here for the pvp, but im a scifi buff, and i love immersion. You dont have to choose between one or the other, it isnt a contradiction. You can both love the pvp, the depth, and more storyline/immersion stuff as well.

Because that has been the nickname I have used online for about 12 years.

Because it is my avatar.

Yup, I am a RPer.

I don't need Incarna to RP my character. Especially as we will be sitting in Space Bars typing in text anyway.

They might but the chance of Incarna ever being what people think it will be within the next decade is incredibly small (seriously the amount of features people think Incarna will eventually have is another entire MMO's worth, that dev time is going to WoD and Dust514, not EvE). The bittervet knows that CCP promises the world with a new feature and then abandons a half-done bug ridden mess to go work on teh new shinys.

No, they don't spend a lot of time in stations they spend a lot of time staring at spreadsheets. Now they can /emote their avatar staring at spreadsheets while Walking In Stations!!!! Truly ground breaking innovation!

My fixation is on Internet Spaceships because if I want to hang around in virtual bars I can go play SecondLife. There is NO other game like EvE. Successful businesses focus on what makes their product different from the competition.
See unlike some of the pro-Incarna people I have a firm grounding in reality and know that CCP will never be able to turn EvE into a "sci-fi simulator" that is actually good. That is far too much content to be done properly so in my opinion they should focus on the stuff that made them famous.

Same reason they are focusing on WoD. Potential player base.
The console FPS market is at least an order of magnitude bigger then the PC FPS market. You can't have both play together with any semblance of balance so CCP are focusing on the bigger market.
Fantasy and Supernatural are orders of magnitude more popular than SciFi, so CCP are focusing on WoD. It makes perfect business sense as long as no other company aims for the EvE player base.

What i mean is, we the eve players should be the ones allowed to fight it out on planets when our **** is at stake, and when we feel bored waiting for a 5 day skill to go up. I wouldnt mind console players being able to play dust as well, but i dont think they have the attention span needed to graft something long lasting to eve with console players. So why would they want to gamble grafting something to eve that might not get alot of play one year later as ADD players leave it for the next game, when they could have eve players, who have long lasting stakes in the game, be there as a permanent base. I sure as hell wont buy a console to play dust thats for sure though.

I kind of have to agree with this, even if I'm an pro-Incarna player. I do like to be a "person", sometimes I miss it a lot in EVE and I go play some other mmo for a week or so just to enjoy that experience. I'm not a ship (they don't have any customize options nor identity) nor a 2D portrait and I will never be or get used to it.
But quoted poster is right. For example: I like Dune and I like the atmosphere on the Star Wars planets in the movies. No way CCP is ever going to be able to get walking and interacting with planets in EVE, let alone player fights. Not within the next 25 or so years, given their development speed.
So indeed: CCP will never be able to turn EvE into a "sci-fi simulator" that is actually good.

At first i took you seriously, and was going to engage on a healthy debate with you. But after you offended those who had a different opinion than yours by calling them trolls, i can only say one thing to you:
So sorry, good sir. ____________

But thats what they are doing with dust somewhat. I wouldnt mind paying a sub for an entirely new game based on that incarna engine that lets us do just that. If they grow enough they could hire a whole new set of devs to work with the planet exploration game without neglecting eve space. 10 years down the line yea they could merge both games.
Thats why i dont mind Incarna, for what it could mean for the future of MMOs. Because again, i dont see any other company giving me hope about where the MMO genre is going. Rift is bland, no depth, wow clone, (im playing it, but its just for hopping on, having pvp fights when i dont have alot of time to sit down). Any other company i can think of is straying away (or never went there) from the path Eve online has stayed on. Champions online, Aion, warhammer online, perpetuum, all crap with no depth. So what if CCP gets a bit more popular over what is arguably fluff. Id rather have new blood try out eve and be amazed at how cool to have something with depth and have the game grow than them sticking to games like rift and never know what theyre missing.

10 years down the line .. I hope I found something more useful to do with my life than playing games .. ;)

EVE is rather unique, admitted. The thing with other games is usually that they're so much the same, I don't see why there can't be something that's different again. But I'm not saying EVE is better than your average mmo in every way, at least not in my opinion. EVE has its merits but definitely also its flaws and tediousness. I refuse to believe that it's just its complexity is the reason that there's not that much people playing it.
But a real sci-fi sim where you can choose to live on a planet, or fly ships, or have a bar, fight sandworms or enemy armadas, and all with one character in one persistent world - that would be great.

Whatever you say, want or are afraid of, practically EVE will still be just a spaceship game for a long time. Is there any incentive to walk in stations announced this year? Contraband, and that's it? You mind if I'm not impressed?

Youre right on that, Eve could use some love in the things we have available to do if we dont trade/moon mine etc. Planetery interaction is a step toward that, i have to admit that both time i left eve i was bored to hell grinding rats in 00 to be able to afford pvping. The ratio of time i had to spend to grind vs pvp was about 10:1. But i came back to it twice, which is more than i can say about any other MMO ive played.

I admit, that after 7 years... this comment has never become old...
...sarcasm obviously
CCP cant develop decent new content and trolls can't seem to come up with anything better themselves with comments like these... haha.
and yes you can have stuff, just not mine :p
Ironic how you call others trolls...Anywho, I am looking forward to this expansion. CCP knows they have room for improvement and they are the first to admit it. We all do though and to me his is still the best game out there.
