It might be exciting if CCP removed plex and replaced it with Bitcoins.

Converting all countries who can play EVE to socialism so as to end the persuit of money would work better and is at least as likely as the OP's suggestion.

Or ask Bernard von NotHaus what happens when you create your own private currency.

Edited by: Miilla on 26/05/2011 16:09:02 Won't happen as bitcoins are as backed by gold as the dollar is. They are worthless numbers.
Private currencies is the vogue of game houses. Wallets with rounding scams all to remove the real value of your purchase and once they get your money exchanged for an ingame wallet item, youve paid, and have no comeback. You bought a fictional "credit" note witha real value of 0.
Unregulated, uninsured, tax free.
Reptilians own you.

And all of this is why bitcoins could inject more fun and excitement into EVE.

GATA recently was granted friend of court to file a brief. Also APMEX has taken a numismatic swipe at the case with a recent series.

The Bernard von NotHaus case is not as the Govt represents it.
The Government won largely because the "Liberties" bore a dollar sign and were called "dollars." The government has made some rather sweeping claims after the case but they are not supported by the actual conviction and court documents.
That said I expect rebel minds are going to fall in love with the bitcoin and in response there will be applicable laws written by big money.

Even if you are ignoring all the other problems of this emerging cryptocurrency (and there are a few) and the technical issues of integrating it into EVE (long story, boring too), the exchange rate is way too volatile to make any sense for CCP to even begin thinking about doing anything like this. Plus, you would be basically legalizing RMT. _

Stop advertising pyramid schemes (=bitcoins) that are also unpatriotic and support terrorism.

Bitcoin mining without a rack of FPGA's is pointless really now because that is what you are competing with, FPGA farms.
Lower power and 10x faster than GPUs at least.

In other news: While out shopping and doing other rubbish stuff I mined 0.04883559 BTC .
At about 10 quid a BTC (atm) thats a whopping ú0.49.
I would also like to add it was about as exciting as mining in eve but with alot less clicking.
In B4 lolz your power bill cost you more you noob...I haz a 3.1 KWp solar farm on me house and I get paid for what I generate not what I export.

replace plex with bitcins? stupid be able to buy plex with bitcoins? possible.
chances are bitcoins will fail, or succeed the problem i see is the currency is static at a certain number. right now "mining" bitcoins creates new ones but at a certain number mining becomes impossible. when we are stuck with 4 million bitcoins world wide and everyone uses them .01 bitcoin will be a lot.

On a side note, APMEX and GATA have both jumped in. AMPEX has taken a numismatic swipe at the Feds with a series almost identical to Libertys. GATA received friend of court rights. A number of other 3rd party motions in support of NotHaus have been filed as well. Rumors Utah may file as well considering their recent developments regarding gold and silver.
