I think it's only fair to say that this is more along the lines of what is intended with this new Aur currency.

Seems like PLEX is superfluous now. It would make more sense to sell Aur for real money and let that get put up on the market, then make the Aur redeemable for items and playtime.

I would pay Plex for an old fashioned forum killfile right about now.

It's actually:
$$$ -> PLEX <------> ISK | | ^ | | | v | \--> AUR -> items

Let's just hope CCP doesn't fall into the same rut that other games with Micro Transactions do, and gradually focus on producing "payed for content" for more money, leaving the main game's content trailing behind.

EVE online is not a free 2 play MMO. We both pay our monthly subs and one time payment to activate/purchase the game. There is no place for gameplay affecting microstranactions in such a system.
Polished content =/= broken and unbalanced content. |

They posted this on a Friday, went to the pub, got drunk, ignored the forum all weekend, let us fight ourselves over it.
They rush to the coffee machine Tuesday, laugh.
The real reason CCP have to install money pumps is they have to bail out one of their director's debt to the banks.

So why should there be a second currency that influences people to purchase PLEX's and break them down into this new currency, to buy premium content that they could sell on the market, but for no doubt a rediculous price?
It's taking advantage of both idiots and people who have too much money for their own good, who will pay anything to stand out from the crowd. Eventually as more and more money is made from this item mall, more and more development time will be directed into producing more of this premium content for the people who will buy it, because it's extra earnings for basically nothing.
How about spending the resources on more hardware to support your playerbase, instead of hiring fashion designers to fill your pockets. Or if you really need those fashion designers, use them to bring the rest of the ship models and textures up to the standards that the EVE engine is now capable of dealing with. Or will those also be found in the item mall at a later date, for only $15 each?

Buying PLEX with ISK (to convert into AUR and buy vanity stuff) requires the conversion of 400m ISK at a time.
Buying vanity items directly with ISK from the market will have a worse ISK/AUR rate but allows you to get that item you need even if you only have 100m ISK in your wallet.
